I set fire to my ex’s stuff on our balcony as soon as we split then deleted our photos and blocked all his family too

· March 2, 2021 ·

ARE you all for burning keepsakes from your exes, like Rachel, Monica and Phoebe famously did in sitcom Friends? Jo Hemmings , a behavioural psychologist, says: “If you have been badly hurt and every item you associate with your ex is a trigger, having a clearout of everything related to them can be quite cleansing. “But before you act in a fit of pique, remember that once something is gone, it’s gone – and you won’t have an opportunity to look back on memorabilia when you eventually start to heal. Alternatively, it’s not healthy to hold on to every item that has anything to do with your ex – keeping pants and toothbrushes in a shoebox, for instance. “This is, perhaps, a sign of harbouring unrequited hopes of reuniting. “My advice would be to put things like cards, photos or small gifts your ex has given you somewhere you can’t access easily. "When you heal, you may have some nice memories to look back on and maybe even smile about.” I dumped every last … [Read more...] about I set fire to my ex’s stuff on our balcony as soon as we split then deleted our photos and blocked all his family too

Teen Cartel Kidnapping Victim Rescued After Mexican Border City Shootout

· March 3, 2021 ·

Mexican soldiers rescued a kidnapping victim after a large-scale shootout in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. Three gunmen from the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas died as a result. The gun battle took place on Sunday afternoon in the south side of Nuevo Laredo when a convoy of Mexican soldiers encountered cartel gunmen in the area known as South Loop. The gunmen fired at the soldiers as they tried to drive away, starting a chase and a shootout that extended across several blocks and ended along the highway that leads to Nuevo Leon. One of the vehicles stopped while the second managed to escape. Troops rushed to the stopped vehicle after hearing screams for help coming from 18-year-old Roberto Esau Segura, who was handcuffed inside the vehicle. The teen claimed he was kidnapped days before the shootout. Inside the vehicle, authorities found the bodies of three members of the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas (CDN-Los Zetas). The gunmen were wearing … [Read more...] about Teen Cartel Kidnapping Victim Rescued After Mexican Border City Shootout

‘The Willoughbys’ Director Kris Pearn Adapts Children’s Book By Lois Lowry For Netflix, Leaning Into Its “Roald Dahl Subversiveness”

· March 2, 2021 ·

With The Willoughbys , writer/director Kris Pearn adapted a beloved children’s book of the same name by Lois Lowry, looking to be as faithful as possible to the “subversive” nature of her story, while bringing to it his own personal touch. Pearn’s second feature, following 2013’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 , centers on the Willoughby children, who grew up with parents who could not be more disinterested in them. Exploring the sometimes-wide gap between the families we’re born into and those we choose, it watches as the kids send their selfish guardians off on vacation, setting off on a globetrotting adventure and forging new connections. In conversation with Deadline, Pearn breaks down his narrative and visual approach to the feature—which debuted on Netflix last April—a clever, darkly comedic parable, through which he hoped to say “something real.” Related Story 'The Willoughbys' Review: Ricky Gervais As A Chatty Cat Leads Cool Voice Cast In … [Read more...] about ‘The Willoughbys’ Director Kris Pearn Adapts Children’s Book By Lois Lowry For Netflix, Leaning Into Its “Roald Dahl Subversiveness”
