Ahmedabad: To become the best version of himself while learning something new everyday is Ravichandran Ashwin's endeavour as he aims to leave his lasting legacy in the pantheon of Indian cricket greats. Ashwin has now won eight Man-of-the-Series awards in his 10-year career and is only eight wickets short of equalling Harbhajan Singh's 417 Test wickets. It could well happen in England this summer but he doesn't want to entertain any such thoughts. "Honestly, that's not even crossed my mind and if you want me to put my thoughts on it. He is a fantastic bowler. There's a lot that I have learnt from him. I wasn't even an off-spinner when Bhajju paa started playing for the Indian team," Ashwin's respect for another practitioner of the same craft was there for all to see. "He (Harbhajan) was also an inspiration because of the 2001 famous series (32 wickets in 3 Tests). I never imagined in 2001 that I will be an off-spinner, and I mean who would have imagined those things. I was … [Read more...] about Want to be best version of myself and leave my own legacy: R Ashwin

The Top 10 Super GT/Super Formula drivers of 2019
Given Motorsport.com's increasing coverage of Japan's two premier racing series, we felt it was appropriate to pay tribute to the outstanding stars of one of the most competitive national scenes anywhere in the world. But rather than compile separate lists for Super Formula and SUPER GT, which would have featured largely the same drivers given how many of them compete in both championships, we decided to go down the route of a single countdown. Read on to see who made the cut. Start action Photo by: Masahide Kamio Honourable mentions Both of the drivers that Honda recalled from Europe last year enjoyed quietly impressive campaigns back at home. Nirei Fukuzumi was able to ease his way into GT racing with a seat with the ARTA squad in GT300 and immediately proved one of the class's most consistent and capable performers, helping veteran Shinichi Takagi to a first title after some 17 years of trying. He also ended his first full year in Super Formula on a high … [Read more...] about The Top 10 Super GT/Super Formula drivers of 2019
‘Just swallow your ego’: Israel Adesanya’s advice to Paulo Costa after ‘hangover’ excuse
Israel Adesanya has some advice for Paulo Costa after the Brazilian offered a bizarre excuse for his loss last year: "swallow your ego" and move on. The UFC middleweight champion was left rather amused at hearing that Costa blamed his second-round TKO defeat to Adesanya in September on being hungover . In a recent Youtube video, Costa claimed he had drunk too much wine in a bid to get some sleep on the eve of the fight in Abu Dhabi only to end up feeling “sleepy and yawning’’ during the clash. “That’s just funny,” Adesanya told MMA Junkie. “There’s certain things I’ve done before some of my fights in the past where I learnt my mistakes, but I went in and got my job done. Some people aren’t cut out for that lifestyle.” READ MORE: UFC: Paulo Costa admits he 'drank too much wine' the night before Israel Adesanya fight Paulo Costa slams Israel Adesanya's celebration as UFC champion's selfless gesture revealed UFC 253: World reacts to Israel Adesanya's win - 'he's in … [Read more...] about ‘Just swallow your ego’: Israel Adesanya’s advice to Paulo Costa after ‘hangover’ excuse
Sex tape satire ‘Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn’ wins Berlinale Golden Bear
“Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn” by Radu Jude. Image: Silviu Ghetie/microFilm via AFP The 71st Berlin film festival awarded its Golden Bear top prize Friday to “Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn” by Romania’s Radu Jude, a satire skewering pandemic-era social hypocrisy with the story of a teacher whose sex tape winds up on the internet. This year’s event was held entirely online for critics and industry buyers but judged by a jury made up of previous winners, who watched the 15 contenders in a specially reserved cinema in the German capital. Israeli director Nadav Lapid announced the award for Jude, one of Eastern Europe’s most acclaimed directors, saying his movie had the “rare and essential quality of a lasting artwork.” For the first time, the Berlinale awarded a “gender neutral” best acting prize, to Germany’s Maren Eggert for her performance in the sci-fi comedy “I’m Your Man.” In the film by “Unorthodox” director Maria Schrader, Eggert plays a museum researcher who signs … [Read more...] about Sex tape satire ‘Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn’ wins Berlinale Golden Bear
Employee Appreciation Day should be all year. Here are 3 ways to make it happen
advertisement advertisement advertisement I once coached a leader who was struggling to get the best out of his team. Most of his staff were woefully disengaged and morale was low. He, like a lot of managers, was constantly in problem-solving mode and stressed about achieving aggressive goals. The fixation on what was going wrong consistently spilled over into interactions with his team. advertisement advertisement I learned this manager started his team meetings first thing Monday mornings with a laundry list of problems to be addressed in the week ahead. I suggested the manager try kicking off the meeting instead by recognizing someone who did exceptional work the week before or calling out a positive outcome the team had generated before getting into the meat of the agenda. This tweak was transformative. The team’s engagement score soared—all from giving appreciation where appreciation was due. The power of positive … [Read more...] about Employee Appreciation Day should be all year. Here are 3 ways to make it happen
