GENEVA - The World Health Organization accuses the tobacco industry of devious tactics to get children and young people hooked on their deadly tobacco and nicotine products. In advance of World No Tobacco Day (May 31), the WHO is launching a campaign to alert young people to the dangers they face from the industry’s manipulative practices. More than 40 million young people aged 13 to 15 smoke and use other tobacco products. The World Health Organization says the tobacco industry tries to get children and young people hooked on tobacco early in life, knowing this will turn them into life-long smokers. Geneva: There have been now seven consecutive weeks of increasing Covid-19 cases and four weeks of increasing deaths globally, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said on Monday adding that the coronavirus pandemic is `long from over`. "In January and February, the world saw six consecutive weeks of declining cases. We have now seen seven consecutive weeks of increasing cases, and four weeks of increasing deaths. NORTH Korea suddenly made stunning headlines by claiming they will not join the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics due to pandemic forecasts. Who cares? Kulang sa pansin? In about three months, thousands of athletes from all over the world who have sacrificed so much in the last five years will unleash their best performance and eventually give more hope and inspiration to mankind in pursuit of a safer and more peaceful life.
