Polishing the rock: LSU gymnast Sarah Edwards has gone from walk-on to key performer

· February 25, 2021 ·

For Sarah Edwards, it was all or nothing. When she attended an LSU gymnastics camp the summer before her senior year of high school, she decided she was going to make it as a Tiger or stay at home in Mississippi and enroll at Ole Miss, which doesn’t have a gymnastics program. “I always aspired to have a collegiate career,” Edwards said, “but if it didn’t work I was going to go to Ole Miss and retire after my senior year of high school. “Fortunately, that didn’t happen.” Fortunately for Edwards, and for the Tigers, she caught the eye of then LSU assistant coach Jay Clark. “After camp Jay pulled me aside and asked me, ‘What’s your name? What are your grades? Are you smart?’ ” Edwards recalled with a laugh. “I said, ‘I have As.’ He said, ‘OK, we’d love to have you on the team.’ ” Edwards spent two years as a walk on before being placed on scholarship going into her junior season, a junior season cut even shorter than the rest of the LSU team’s season because of an ankle … [Read more...] about Polishing the rock: LSU gymnast Sarah Edwards has gone from walk-on to key performer

Carlson: Point of Biden Immigration Policy ‘Is to Import as Many New Democratic Voters as Possible and There’s No Limit’

· February 25, 2021 ·

Wednesday, FNC host Tucker Carlson dissected the new Biden administration’s approach to immigration policy and why it might be offering low estimates on the number of illegal immigrants within the country. The “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host speculated a process was underway by the White House to import as many Democratic voters as possible. Transcript as follows: CARLSON: Have you ever noticed how nobody in Washington can agree on a number? Now math is supposed to be objective except in Oregon where it is racist. But in the real world, you would think that people with functioning calculators could come to similar math-based conclusions once in a while, but not in D.C. Try getting a consensus on unemployment projections or consumer confidence levels from Members of Congress. You can’t even get a straight answer on how many troops will be occupying the Capitol three months from now and that’s something they directly control. Even allowing for the fact that most politicians … [Read more...] about Carlson: Point of Biden Immigration Policy ‘Is to Import as Many New Democratic Voters as Possible and There’s No Limit’

Be You: Kris Bryant approaches each day with faith, kindness — and yoga

· February 25, 2021 ·

Kris Bryant is a licensed massage therapist, certified yoga teacher, and sole proprietor of Dogwood Therapy. Usually I would point you to a website or social media business page, but Kris doesn’t need those; with 25 years experience, she thrives on referrals and word of mouth. Kris specializes in neuromuscular and myofascial therapy, helping with pain, post-surgery recovery and focusing on wellness. She tells me that taking care of your body when you are younger is the best investment in yourself for when you grow older. As you will see from these answers, Kris is one of those people whose faith and kindness lead her day-to-day activities. I asked her why her company is called Dogwood Therapy and she told me about the legend of the dogwood tree, and its connection to her faith — you can ask her yourself (or Google it). What was your first job? I worked at Star Printing Company in Wynne, Arkansas. Ink is really messy. Describe a typical day in your life. I get up at 5:30 … [Read more...] about Be You: Kris Bryant approaches each day with faith, kindness — and yoga
