Việt Nam’s automobile imports slow in January

Photo vietnamnet.vn HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam spent US$213 million importing cars in January, a 34.3 per cent drop compared to the previous month, reports the General Department of Customs. The main markets are Thailand with 4,341 units, China (1,463 units) and Indonesia (1,437 units), accounting for 87 per cent of the country’s total imported cars. Nine-seater passenger vehicles or passenger cars of under nine seats are 5,203 units worth nearly $102 million, accounting for 62.4 per cent. The number of vehicles with less than nine seats imported dropped by 27.4 per cent in January or a decrease of 1,965 units compared to December 2020. For transport vehicles, the import volume stood at 2,230 units worth $60.6 million, down 48.6 per cent in volume and 40.9 per cent in value compared to December. Thai conglomerate SCG now dominates Việt Nam’s plastic production industry

Under the contract signed on February 9 via a virtual conference, Duy Tân will sell 70 per cent of its shares in five of total twenty-two subsidiary companies, including Duy Tân Plastic Manufacturing Corporation and Duy Tân Long An Corporation, to SCG’s SCG Packaging, Duy Tân said. Duy Tân Plastic is a leading company in the plastic goods market in Việt Nam with revenue of VNĐ4.7 trillion in 2020. It has nearly 1,000 commodities units and 16,000 distribution agents across the country. The company’s annual capacity reaches 116,000 tonnes of hard plastic packaging and plastic goods. Nam O Reef, the green pearl of Da Nang

Nguyen Thanh Nam has been leading tours in Da Nang for more than a decade and he says most tourists cannot help but be amazed at the beautiful nature of Nam O Reef. “The reefs combine with beautiful sand, clear blue seawater, and green trees to become a must-visit destination for nature lovers when coming to Da Nang,” said Nam. “During spring, when the tide recedes, rocks of different shapes and sizes reveal they are covered with green moss. Viet Nam needs more than $128 billion to develop electricity in the next nine years

On February 9, the MoIT issued a draft national electricity development planning project for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045 or the power master plan VIII and asked other ministries and agencies to contribute their ideas. With forecasts that Viet Nam's GDP growth will reach an average of 6.6 per cent per year in 2031-2045 and 5.7 per cent per year in 2031-2045, the MoIT forecast the supply of commercial electricity to reach 491 billion kWh by 2030, and 877 billion kWh by 2045. Instead of being dismayed, the pint-sized boxer has taken the delay as an opportunity to sharpen her technique to prepare for her date with destiny. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) agreed to move the mini flyweight (48kg) title defence between Thu and Japanese boxer Etsuko Tada to April, about two months after it was scheduled to be held. The delay was needed as Tada could not travel to Việt Nam in February due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
