Getty Images The Falcons have the fourth overall pick in the upcoming draft, and there’s been plenty of speculation that they could take a quarterback to be Matt Ryan ‘s successor. With General Manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith reportedly “ aligned ” on their vision for the top pick, Atlanta has sent representatives to the Pro Days with the top incoming passers. As Fontenot said in a clip of an interview released by the team, that methodology is both about the present and the future. “That’s critical because that’s a position that regardless of where you are at your starter — we’re so excited about Matt Ryan, but we have to evaluate every one of these quarterbacks ,” Fontenot said. “Not just for now, when you think big picture, if you have an opportunity — for example Trevor Lawrence , when you have an opportunity to see that player in person throw, then you have to take advantage of that. Even if you’re not going to have the opportunity at him this … [Read more...] about Terry Fontenot: We’re excited about Matt Ryan, but have to evaluate incoming QBs

England in fine fettle for World Cup and Daryl Powell a hard act to follow at Castleford, says Terry O’Connor
Terry O'Connor explains why he is confident for England at the World Cup and looks at why Daryl Powell will be a hard act to follow at Castleford... England coach Shaun Wane last week admitted Sam Tomkins is winning the race to be starting full-back for October's World Cup. Obviously he hasn't had chance to select a team yet due to Covid but it's a huge 2021 for Wane, and for a number of players. He's always had a great rapport with his players, and of course nurtured Sam at Wigan before he went off to New Zealand, but, if I was a full-back with international aspirations, I'd be delighted the England boss has revealed his hand. For Super League rivals like Niall Evalds, Stefan Ratchford, Zak Hardaker (albeit a full-back or centre) and Jake Connor, a gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down, and that intense competition can only benefit the national side. Connor in … [Read more...] about England in fine fettle for World Cup and Daryl Powell a hard act to follow at Castleford, says Terry O’Connor

With notes from Nick Saban, Charles Huff takes patient approach at Marshall
Charles Huff has no interest in wholesale changes at Marshall. The Thundering Herd's new coach didn't take the job at Marshall because it was a program in need of a massive overhaul. No, Marshall is fully capable of competing and winning championships. His predecessor, Doc Holliday , led the team to eight bowl games in 11 seasons. He was let go in January after being named Conference USA's coach of the year in a move that shocked many across college football. Huff, the former Alabama running backs coach and 247Sports' National Recruiter of the Year , rolled into Huntington with a clear vision but with the understanding he should not try to bull-doze players or staffers from the previous regime. Instead, the Maryland native asked questions and listened to those who best understand Marshall. "Tell me how Marshall has done it in the past, so that I have a little bit more education," Huff said. "That's not to say, well, we're gonna do the exact same thing but it's so I can … [Read more...] about With notes from Nick Saban, Charles Huff takes patient approach at Marshall
