Covid-19 has brought the whole world to standstill especially the academic activities. No physical classes are taking place either here in India or abroad. The pandemic situation is so grim that almost all the countries have closed their doors to your overseas education dream. It may shatter your dream to study abroad. Because of the pandemic situation many countries have changed their admission policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria of the educational institutions, mostly relating to the admission of foreign students. Yet the identity of these intrepid seafarers has been lost to time. They left a trail of distinctive red pottery but few other clues, and scientists have confronted two different scenarios: The explorers were either farmers who sailed directly from mainland East Asia to the remote islands, or people who mixed with hunter-gatherers they met along the way in Melanesia, including Papua New Guinea. Now, the first genome-wide study of ancient DNA from prehistoric Polynesians has boosted the first idea: that these ancient mariners were East Asians who swept out into the Pacific. The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and Mapua University revealed on Tuesday that they are starting to equip the country’s 45 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with data science and analytics skills for the post-Covid-19 pandemic world, following the launching of the Data Analytics and Digital Transformation Training for Higher Education, an executive program delivered by Carnegie Mellon University-Australia (CMUA), a global leader in data analytics. The program is a 10-day virtual training that combines a comprehensive business intelligence, data analytics and technology management curriculum with a hands-on focus. The 60 participants, who come from 45 HEIs all around the Philippines, are taught by CMUA’s expert pool of faculty who are also industry experts, with many active industry collaborations that put them at the forefront of data science developments.
