JOHN KIRK-ANDERSON/STUFF Protesters have united against a proposed quarry at North Canterbury's Rangiora Racecourse. (Video first published December 2020). I’m a tough cookie and put on a brave face but I’ve been depressed and struggled to cope, says Alex Scott

· February 24, 2021 ·

From the outside I’m sure most of you know me as that smiley woman from the TV. And largely, I am. I love socialising, I love meeting new people and I love my work. I love to laugh. That’s me . I’ve been really open about how I see a therapist, and how that was such a positive change in my life. That said, it was only through my recent BBC documentary, The Truth About Improving Your Mental Health that I was told I was depressed. It’s so easy to think there are people worse off than us and we have no right to feel sorry for ourselves. But that thought process alone can be really dangerous, and lead to bigger problems. Mental illness can strike anyone at any time - no matter your age, gender or race. It doesn’t … [Read more...] about I’m a tough cookie and put on a brave face but I’ve been depressed and struggled to cope, says Alex Scott

· January 26, 2021 ·

THE CORONAVIRUS vaccine rollout is in full swing and so far over 6.5 million people have received a jab. Some of the most vulnerable people in society have now had vaccines from either Pfizer/BioNTech or Oxford/AstraZeneca. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the target is to give the first dose of the vaccine to 15 million people in the four-key groups by mid-February. Health Secretary Matt Hancock last night said that over 70 per cent of the over 80s had now been vaccinated - meaning that the country is a step closer to protecting those who are most vulnerable to infection. Mass vaccination centres across the country have opened and GP surgeries along with pharmacies will also be giving out the jab. It is hoped more than 700 GP surgeries across the UK could be delivering the Oxford jab , which can be stored at fridge temperatures. How will I be contacted to get the Covid vaccine? Why Did My Partner Lose His Feelings for Me?

· February 22, 2021 ·

Key Points: If a partner gradually becomes less attentive and caring, there may be a mismatch in emotional intelligence . The other seems cold and indifferent. As one party attempts to dig in and address deeper issues, the other claims everything is fine and avoids any discussion about what he or she is feeling. In this situation, the person who is left in the dark often feels as if he or she is to blame. Questions like, “Was I too needy, too demanding, or too insecure?” might consume the person. These thoughts are understandable when a partner, without explanation, withdraws love. … [Read more...] about Why Did My Partner Lose His Feelings for Me?
