When Disney+ first launched in the US in November 2019, the streaming platform by the House of Mouse had five content brands — Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Disney, and National Geographic. With these five brands, Disney+ boasts an impressive line-up of content, but with a slate that was still generally family-friendly. However, this is about to change on Feb 23 — the day the streaming platform launches in Singapore — when Disney+ adds the Star brand to their collection. This makes Singapore the first market globally to launch Disney+ with all six content brands, offering you over 650 films and 15,000 episodes of content. Star is a familiar entertainment brand in Asia and will bring more mature Hollywood content to Disney+ subscribers. During the press event for Disney+ today (Feb 2), local media got a glimpse of what it will offer and there are plenty of titles available — both old and new. With Star, Disney+ subscribers can look forward to popular television shows like Grey's … [Read more...] about Singapore will be first market globally to launch Disney+ with the Star brand that offers more mature content

Good luck finding a PlayStation 5: Walmart and other retailers battle ‘bots’ snatching up hot products
CHICAGO/NEW YORK: Seven times last month, Benjamin Karmis, a 26-year-old priest from Wheaton, Illinois, failed to get his hands on the latest Sony PlayStation 5 video game console from retail websites including Walmart Inc and Facebook Marketplace. But it wasn't because another person beat him to the purchase. Instead, Karmis and other shoppers were outgunned by so-called “scalper bot” software, which resellers use to snatch up products online and relist them moments later at significant mark-ups on eBay and Amazon Marketplace. The coronavirus pandemic that has kept millions of shoppers at home has also emboldened such resellers, whose high-tech arbitrage - legal in most countries - is bringing grief for everyday shoppers. “There is no possible way that I could have been more prepared to get one, and I have failed every single time,” Karmis said. This year, bots have also targeted pandemic-era essential goods, including P&G’s Charmin toilet paper and Reckitt … [Read more...] about Good luck finding a PlayStation 5: Walmart and other retailers battle ‘bots’ snatching up hot products
How Google could improve Android apps for everyone, according to these developers
Android & Chill Developers have a tough job and there are ways that Google could make it easier. Jerry Hildenbrand 27 Feb 2021 0 Source: Jerry Hildenbrand / Android Central We just got our first very early peek at Android 12 and like every version that came before it, there will be new features. Some independent developers will be able to include support for Google's new stuff rather quickly and that's a testament to hard work combined with a bit of luck that made it a little easier to implement. But know that most developers that still maintain the best Android apps will be working hard to make the new stuff work without breaking all the existing stuff. That's what developer previews and beta testing … [Read more...] about How Google could improve Android apps for everyone, according to these developers

Girls who went missing in Ontario: Solved and unsolved cases
There can be no grief like it, the loss of a child, the loss of a child to murder, murder at the hands of a person known to victim and family. It is depravity impossible to fathom, a violation of the natural order of things. It brings a mountain of pain, a monstrous sense of betrayal and a guilt that never goes away. For the family of Christine Jessop, the arc of their last four decades has been heart-shredding beyond all understanding. And this week’s identification of Christine’s killer, 36 years after the fact, cannot set things right nor be dealt with in privacy. Murder is no private event. It wounds a community. The loss of an innocent to evil defies our ability to make sense of things. We can’t because everything about such acts is senseless and wrong. At the funerals of little lives stolen, what’s striking is the scale of things — the enormity of the hurt, the tiny-ness of the details. The littleness of miniature caskets. The youth of the mourners — friends … [Read more...] about Girls who went missing in Ontario: Solved and unsolved cases
