The affected vaccine recipients were all between the ages of 18 and 48, with the clots showing up 6 to 13 days after immunization. One woman died, and one is in critical condition. The agencies will investigate whether the issue is more widespread, but for now at least, those who suffered a poor reaction represent a miniscule percentage of the near 7 million Americans who have received the shot. The government’s decision immediately set off a debate about the wisdom of halting a vaccine’s usage over what appears to be such a rare reaction. President Joe Biden defended Monday his bi-partisan meeting at the White House on infrastructure, despite Republicans dismissing the event as more empty “window dressing.” Sens. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Deb Fischer (R-NB) met with Biden, as well as Reps. Don Young (R-AK) and Garret Graves (R-LA). Four Congressional Democrats also joined the meeting. When reporters asked about Republican criticism of the meeting, Biden replied, “I’m not big on window dressing, if you’ve observed.” But at this point, Biden remains unwilling to publicly offer any major compromise on his multi-trillion-dollar spending plan proposed as “infrastructure.” “I’m prepared to negotiate as to how — the extent of the — my infrastructure project, as well as how we pay for it,” Biden said before the meeting began. Police report “multiple gunshot victims” following an attack at Knoxville, Tennessee’s Austin-East Magnet High School. The wounded include a Knoxville police officer. Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon (D) says the Knoxville police officer who was wounded in the Austin-East shooting is alert and okay. Kincannon said the officer “is conscious, in good spirits, and is going to be okay.” 12 KWCH reports the wounded officer was shot while engaging “a male subject armed in the school.” Two people were shot: One male, who is dead on scene, and the officer, who is expected to recover. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris each tweeted their support Monday for the family of Daunte Wright, the 20-year-old black driver killed after he evaded arrest on an outstanding warrant Sunday in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Brooklyn Center suffered a second night of rioting on Monday — ironically, as the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd continues. Both towns are in Hennepin County; Brooklyn Center is a suburb.
