BEIJING: China has emphasised on the values of Asean and says it is looking forward to building an even closer Asean-China community with a shared future. Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the country would continue to support the region in the combat against Covid-19 by supplying vaccines to needy countries. He quoted a Confucius saying, “At 30, I have been well-established with principle” while reviewing the Asean-China ties as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. “After 30 years of weathering the storms together, we have built up a united, fair and supportive relationship. “China views importance to this cooperation, and will continue to prioritise Asean’s needs towards creating an even more splendid 30 years to come, ” he added. According to Commander of Military Region 7 Major General Nguyen Truong Thang, despite the serious impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, Military Region 7’s armed forces successfully fulfilled all military and defense missions and effectively combated SARS-CoV-2. Particularly, together with building a border patrol road, military units in the region built 34 residential areas near border posts, including 170 houses. The units also constructed around 300 houses for needy ethnic minority people and religious followers. For the 2021 Lunar New Year Festival, agencies and units under the military region formed missions to visit and present gifts to their personnel and local residents, especially those in remote areas, along the border and on islands. Valeriano de Leon ordered on Saturday a thorough investigation into the case of a policeman, who was allegedly snatched by armed men, who left behind the lawman’s two civilian companions in handcuffs in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
