A BRIT mum claims she was sexually assaulted by a hotel worker in Egypt in front of her horrified kids – before staff battered him with his own electric fly swatter. Joanna Carlin, 32, was allegedly groped by a man working for pest control at the plush Royal Lagoons Aqua Park Hotel in Hurghada. The mum-of-two says the man tried to forcibly kiss her and felt her bum as she was waiting on a lift to take her terrified kids down to breakfast. Her husband Mark then tracked down the attacker – and reported him to hotel staff. But instead of reporting him to police, the couple say resort employees instead battered the pest control worker with his own swatter. ATTACKED IN LIFT Speaking to the Daily Record, Joanna, from from Linlithgow in Scotland, said: “I was waiting to take our kids down in the lift for breakfast.“The door opened and this man in a uniform was inside. “He asked if he could give me and the children a kiss on the cheek. I thought, OK, maybe … [Read more...] about Brit mum ‘groped in front of her kids by Egypt hotel worker’ before staff battered sex attacker with electric fly swatter

Ukrainian beauty queen who was forced to give up crown sues for discrimination
The Ukrainian beauty queen who was forced to give up her title is suing for discrimination. Veronika Didusenko won the 2018 Miss Ukraine beauty-pageant. But then, after just four days, she was forced to give up her crown once the Miss World organisation, with which the Ukrainian competition is affiliated, found out she was divorced and had a son. Euronews spoke to Didusenko: “The fact that I am a mother was never an issue. Special Report: 2020 U.S. census plagued by hacking threats, cost overruns
(Reuters) - In 2016, the U.S. Census Bureau faced a pivotal choice in its plan to digitize the nation’s once-a-decade population count: build a system for collecting and processing data in-house, or buy one from an outside contractor. The bureau chose Pegasystems Inc, reasoning that outsourcing would be cheaper and more effective. Three years later, the project faces serious reliability and security problems, according to Reuters interviews with six technology professionals currently or formerly involved in the census digitization effort. And its projected cost has doubled to $167 million — about $40 million more than the bureau’s 2016 cost projection for building the site in-house. The Pega-built website was hacked from IP addresses in Russia during 2018 testing of census systems, according to two security sources with direct knowledge of the incident. One of the sources said an intruder bypassed a “firewall” and accessed parts of the system that … [Read more...] about Special Report: 2020 U.S. census plagued by hacking threats, cost overruns
Japan: death toll climbs to 155 after ‘historic’ rain and landslides
The number of people who have died in floods and landslides triggered by “historic” levels of torrential rain in Japan has climbed to at least 155, with dozens of others still missing. Almost 2 million people were still subject to evacuation orders on Monday, while tens of thousands of rescue workers battled mud, water and rubble to search for survivors stranded in their homes. At one point about 5 million people were told or advised to evacuate. Some of those who decided to stay home found themselves trapped by rapidly rising water or landslides. The heaviest rainfall seen in Japan for decades has caused destruction over large parts of the country, particularly in Hiroshima and other parts of the south-west, making it difficult for authorities to assess the damage and the number of casualties. Some media reports said 60 people were still unaccounted for, while Japan’s public broadcaster NHK put the number of missing at 79. The prime minister, Shinzo Abe, cancelled a … [Read more...] about Japan: death toll climbs to 155 after ‘historic’ rain and landslides
