BMC says vaccination drive suspended for 2 days; state health department disagrees

As per the instructions of the central government, a four-day vaccination session will be organized next week, added DGIPR, clarifying that there was no plan of temporary cancellation of vaccination session till January 18 in the state. The official Twitter handle of the State Health Information and Communication Bureau also took to Twitter to clarify. "No covid vaccination sessions were planned on Sunday 17th or Monday 18th January. So the question of cancellation does not arise. Covid Vaccination sessions will be organized in the next week as per GOI guidelines." On the first day of the drive, as much as 65 per cent of healthcare workers who were scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccine jab on the first day were inoculated in Maharashtra. Of the 4,000 healthcare workers scheduled for vaccination at nine centres in Mumbai city, only 1,926 were administered the jab. Singh et al. note that e-cigarettes are attractive to young people who would not otherwise smoke cigarettes.  Indeed, while many adults use e-cigarettes as a substitute for conventional cigarettes, they observe that fewer than 8 percent of young people use them for this reason.  Instead, citing a 2017 survey of youth and young adults, they note that reasons commonly cited for using e-cigarettes include curiosity, convenience, and social bonding.
