WAN-IFRA names The Hindu Group ‘Champion Publisher of the Year 2020’

The Hindu Group won two golds and two silvers at WAN IFRA’s South Asian Digital Media Awards, culminating in being named ‘Champion Publisher of the Year’, owing to the highest tally on the points table. The awards are presented in recognition of outstanding work done by news publishers, in digital media. The winners were honoured virtually at the Digital Media India 2021 Conference held on Wednesday. L.V. Anwar’s appointment as PM will not be done hastily: Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia will not done hastily, said his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who has been named the new deputy prime minister. The PKR president said the appointment would be made, in accordance with the original plan, during the mid-term of the new Pakatan Harapan administration. “Right now, we want the government helmed by (Prime Minister) Dr Mahathir Mohamad to function smoothly,” she said to reporters after visiting Anwar at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital on Tuesday (May 15). "We want his administration to bring about the changes and reformation that is needed," The Star quoted her as saying. PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's new Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said on Tuesday (May 22) that the government is setting up a task force to implement Pakatan Harapan's (PH) 100-day election manifesto promises . Clocking in for work on her first day as deputy prime minister, Dr Wan Azizah said the matter had been approved by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, and that the task force will focus on social entrepreneurship initiatives, leadership development for women and the Harapan (Hope) Project initiative. “Priority will also be given to addressing childhood malnutrition and stunting as reported in the study by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) caused by urban poverty and involving children in Kelantan," Dr Wan Azizah told reporters. Malaysia election: Wan Azizah wins Pandan parliamentary seat

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has won the parliamentary seat in Pandan, Selangor, according to official results on Wednesday (May 9). The 65-year-old had been up against Barisan Nasional's Leong Kok Wee, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia's (PAS) Sukri Omar, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Jenice Lee and independent candidate Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz. The Pandan parliamentary seat, which was won by PKR's popular vice-president Rafizi Ramli in the last election, was considered a safe seat. Kindly Share This Story: The former Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has compared Nigeria to a vehicle with a knocked engine, insisting Nigerians should devote more of their energy towards fixing the engine than seeking or concentrating their energy  on who becomes the driver.
