A former BBC radio producer who sold crystal meth at sex parties has been jailed. Alexander Parkin, 45, worked on the popular Radio 3 show Late Junction and won nine Sony awards for his work. Parkin was first convicted of drug dealing in 2016, when he admitted selling GBL to celebrity barrister Henry Hendron after the death of to his 18-year-old boyfriend Miguel Jimenez, and received a community order. Parkin also faced a trial in 2017 over claims he had been selling crystal meth, ecstasy and ‘liquid ecstasy’ GBL from his Marylebone flat - but was cleared. At Kingston Crown Court in January this year he admitted possession of crystal meth with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug. Officers found 123g in his flat on September 29 last year in “home-made concealments” in Parkin’s flat, which had a wholesale value of £6,000 and a street value of £18,185. One Direction and Little Mix to join Radio 3 playlist
Chart stars One Direction and Little Mix will soon be getting airtime on Radio 3 - after the station commissioned orchestral versions of their hits. The station has gathered together male and female ensembles who have recorded classical versions of hits by the X Factor-spawned pop groups. It is being done by members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the Halle choir for a girls v boys musical battle in aid of the BBC's Children In Need appeal, which takes place next month. Steve Pycroft, who recently created a baroque version of Justin Bieber's Beauty And A Beat for the station, has arranged the tracks, blending 1D's What Makes You Beautiful with Verdi's Anvil Chorus and putting Little Mix chart-topper Wings with Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries. ‘Ni hao ma’: MasterChef Australia contestant calls out radio station for ‘racism’
A MasterChef Australia contestant has called out a radio station in the country for "racism" after they greeted her in Chinese. Sarah Tiong, who was recently ousted from the cooking competition series, revealed that she was greeted by a presenter from Triple M Sunraysia saying “ni hao ma” when she called in for a phone interview.
