Hackers targeted Myanmar government websites on Thursday to protest against the military coup, as the junta pressed on with its attempts to stymie nationwide opposition with Internet blockades and troop deployments. The cyberattacks came a day after tens of thousands of people rallied across the country to protest against the generals toppling Aung San Suu Kyi’s civilian government earlier this month. A group called Myanmar Hackers disrupted websites including the Central Bank, the Myanmar military’s propaganda page, state-run broadcaster MRTV, the Port Authority, and the Food and Drug Administration. “We are fighting for justice in Myanmar,” the group said on its Facebook page. “It is like mass protesting of people in front of government websites.” State-run newspaper New Light of Myanmar also confirmed that military websites were “under attacks”, with delays on Wednesday. For a second day, motorists in Yangon blockaded roads with vehicles, leaving their bonnets up and … [Read more...] about Anti-coup hackers target Myanmar government sites

Protests swell after Myanmar junta raises spectre of force
Protesters gathered in Myanmar’s biggest city on Monday(NZT Tuesday) despite the ruling junta’s threat to use lethal force against people who join a general strike against the military's takeover three weeks ago. More than 1000 protesters gathered near the US Embassy in Yangon despite barriers blocking the way, but left to avoid a confrontation after 20 military trucks with riot police arrived nearby. Protests continued in other parts of the city, including next to Sule Pagoda, a traditional gathering point. Factories, workplaces and shops were shuttered across the country on Monday (local time) in response to the call for a nationwide strike. The closings extended to the capital, Naypyitaw. The junta had warned against a general strike in a public announcement Sunday night (local time) on state television broadcaster MRTV. Myanmar coup: protesters flout military orders against demonstrations
Vast numbers of people all over Myanmar flouted orders against demonstrations and marched again Sunday (local time) to protest the military takeover that ousted the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. Large demonstrations were held in the major cities of Yangon, Mandalay and the capital, Naypyitaw, as well as in far-flung areas dominated by ethnic minorities. Resistance also took place in cyberspace, as a group calling itself BrotherHood of Myanmar Hackers defaced the government's Myanmar Digital News website, replacing content on its home page with words and pictures against the military takeover. Protesters in Yangon again rallied outside the Chinese and US embassies. They accuse Beijing of propping up the military regime and applaud Washington’s actions sanctioning the military. ‘Boris Johnson has become our gaslighting boyfriend so let’s dump him and move on’
That gnawing worry deep in the pit of your stomach, all of the time. Living on eggshells, constantly on edge, control completely surrendered. Being too scared to hope that today might be OK, because that makes it worse when it’s not. Steeling yourself for disappointments – which will be billed as your fault – in advance, so maybe they’ll hurt less, which turns out not to work. I thought my time at the mercy of terrible boyfriends had come to an end when I married someone nice, so how am I back in an emotionally abusive relationship? Boris Johnson has somehow turned me, and the whole country, into his long-suffering partner. On Monday he revealed his roadmap out of lockdown, which – unlike all the other times – is sensible. I was expecting the opposite, the absolute worst, because that’s all I’ve ever known from him. Instead, a novel experience – I was pleasantly surprised. But then, once the stunned relief had worn off, it was hard not to notice all he’d actually … [Read more...] about ‘Boris Johnson has become our gaslighting boyfriend so let’s dump him and move on’
