Another tree has fallen in the woods, and a local resident is making a noise. A 45-metre kahikatea is the latest tree to fall victim to ongoing riverbank erosion in Marlborough’s Onamalutu Scenic Reserve. The trees at Onamalutu, about 40 kilometres west of Blenheim, are part of an ancient podocarp forest with a lineage that stretches back to when New Zealand was part of the supercontinent Gondwana. Gondwana, or Gondwanaland, was a supercontinent that existed from about 550 million years ago, and started to break up during the Jurassic period, about 180 million years ago. Imperva: Hardware Scalpers Made a Bunch of Money from ‘Grinchbots’ in 2020
Imperva has revealed the extent to which hardware scalpers used "Grinchbots" to buy the precious few CPUs, GPUs, and next-generation consoles that were available during the holiday season and make well over $82 million in sales in the process. The latest information about the prevalence of this practice arrived via the " Bad Bot Report 2021: The Pandemic of the Internet " study the company published today. Imperva said it saw a 788% increase in "bad bot traffic to retail websites globally between September and October 2020," in large part due to next-gen consoles. Late 2020 was the perfect time for people to profit off these so-called Grinchbots. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were both well-received and released just before the holiday season; they would have been popular among scalpers and scammers even if Sony and Microsoft were able to keep pace with demand. These Grinchbots aren't expected to go away now that the holidays are over, either. "The situation … [Read more...] about Imperva: Hardware Scalpers Made a Bunch of Money from ‘Grinchbots’ in 2020

Vietnam gas consumption to double in next 10 years: Fitch Solutions Gas demand is expected to rise from about 9.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2020 to above 25.3bcm in 2030, while influx of LNG helps to counter the decline in domestic production. Vietnam’s gas consumption is predicted to accelerate strongly over the coming decade, more than doubling, over the duration of the upcoming Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII) [2021-2030]. “The potential of the Vietnamese gas market is strong,” stated the Fitch Solutions in a note, saying in comparison to markets similar in terms the size of the consumer market as measured by population, Vietnam appears undersupplied in gas both in terms of absolute consumption volume and per capita. The domestic gas network is also found deficient with Vietnam ranking 15th out of 17 Asia-Pacific gas markets as per the CIA Factbook in terms of total gas pipeline length, despite having historically been self-sufficient in gas. Tasomachi review – Breath of the Wild’s sky-faring little sister
A simple but quietly captivating 3D collectathon with a gorgeous setting. I stumbled into Tasomachi: Behind the Twilight after 30 more-or-less consecutive hours of Outriders, a game of ceaseless killing and looting. Mopping the guts from my face and shaking flattened bullets from my coat, I peered woozily at the opening shot of an airship trundling down the seashore and all but burst into tears. If you're looking for an attractive 3D fantasy world that doesn't require a moment-to-moment tithe of blood, this is your game. The work of Tokyo-based indie nocras with a score from Youtube star Ujico*, it's essentially an idle afternoon or two in the daydreaming mind of a seasoned triple-A artist, whose credits include Zelda and Final Fantasy - a distillation of lessons learned while composing geography and architecture for grander, more combative experiences. It's explicitly designed to be low-key, with no threats, no player death and no major goals beyond collecting things - an … [Read more...] about Tasomachi review – Breath of the Wild’s sky-faring little sister
