· August 9, 2019 ·

As investors in prominent U.S. corporations contemplate the impact of political backlash or trade uncertainties to their bottom line, a new risk has led companies to consider issuing a new warning to their shareholders: the possibility of mass shootings on company property. Several major corporations have begun to disclose mass shootings as a potential investment risk in their annual filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where companies are required to provide investors with adequate notice of various risks that could impact their operations or financial security. "Acts of violence at or threatened against our restaurants or the centers in which they are located, including active shooter situations and terrorism, could unfavorably impact our restaurant sales, which could materially adversely affect our financial performance," the latest annual SEC filing from The Cheesecake Factory, a popular U.S. restaurant chain, notes. Commentary: Singapore has a New Deal. We call it the Resilience Budget

· March 28, 2020 ·

SINGAPORE: A grand supplementary government budget, barely a month after the regular annual budget, may be surreally something out of the blue. But it is absolutely crucial for Singapore caught in a mighty storm amid rapidly deteriorating economic conditions wrought by a global coronavirus pandemic. It was only back in February that Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat rolled out a “Unity Budget” that included expenditures and transfers totaling some S$106 billion for the entire country. This had a S$6.4 billion Stabilisation and Support package for firms, workers and households to fight the effects of the emerging viral outbreak and hold onto jobs. This blockbuster move was strongly welcome. Yet how fast the world has changed. In just five weeks, Mr Heng is back in Parliament to unveil a supplementary Resilience Budget totalling some S$48.4 billion , almost half of the whole earlier national budget. Notably, the landmark move will … [Read more...] about Commentary: Singapore has a New Deal. We call it the Resilience Budget

· March 2, 2021 ·

DJI is about to unveil a new drone, and you can watch the entire event live online. According to a recently posted video teaser from the Chinese drone giant, as well as numerous leaks that have appeared over recent months, the new flying machine is aimed at those with a need for speed, with included first-person-view (FPV) goggles giving pilots the opportunity to really feel like they are part of the action. Even more intriguing is the rumor that DJI will also be launching an optional motion controller that will let you fly the new drone with a single hand, removing the need for a two-handed dual-stick controller. While most of DJI’s consumer drones focus heavily on photography and video capture, the incoming quadcopter will give pilots the ability to fly at high speed, though that certainly doesn’t mean the company has shoved the new drone’s camera technology down the priority list. DJI has already confirmed that the device’s advanced camera will be capable of shooting 4K video … [Read more...] about How to watch DJI unveil its new FPV drone live online today
