Huff played his college football at Hampton University in Virginia. His coaching career got started in 2006, when he was hired as the offensive line coach at Tennessee State. From there, he moved over to coaching the special teams unit and tight ends the next two seasons. Huff would return to his home state of Maryland and serve as the assistant offensive line coach for the 2009 season. He then returned to his alma mater as run game coordinator and offensive line coach before the 2010 season.
