By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — Julian Edelman called it a career on Monday after an incredible 12-year run with the New England Patriots. It’s a career that will someday become a Disney movie, with Edelman going from a college quarterback drafted in the seventh round to a game-changing wide receiver with three Super Bowl rings. He hauled in 738 catches and 41 touchdowns during the regular and postseason, but he did a lot of everything for the Patriots. He was a gifted kick returner early in his career and even dabbled on the defensive side when New England was in a pinch. He walks away from football with plenty of amazing plays for Patriots and football fans to look back on — almost too many to choose. But we’ve managed to whittle it down to 11 plays that we’ll always remember from No. 11: 11. Preseason Punt Return Edelman gave us a glimpse of what was to come with a 75-yard punt return in his first ever preseason game. It prompted Bill Belichick to ask Wes … [Read more...] about The 11 Best Moments Of Julian Edelman’s Career

‘Mare of Easttown’: Kate Winslet Takes a Bite Out of Crime
The new HBO mystery miniseries Mare of Easttown begins with establishing shots of its titular location in southeastern Pennsylvania. The sky is gray. The little houses, most of them built out of worn red brick, all sit on top of one another. Any paint in sight is faded and peeling. It is a depressing place, full of depressing people. When a newcomer tells Mare Sheehan herself ( Kate Winslet ) that the area seems OK to him, she replies, “Give it time.” You cannot accuse Mare of Easttown of false advertising, that’s for sure. The tone of the show is as dour as those early glimpses of its setting, to the point where it can be unnerving in the rare moments where someone briefly smiles or, somehow, some way, laughs. Created by Brad Ingelsby (whose Ben Affleck movie The Way Back was also quite glum) and directed by Craig Zobel ( The Leftovers ), the series is well-acted and can at times be gripping, but it seems happiest when it’s wallowing in the suffering of Mare and everyone … [Read more...] about ‘Mare of Easttown’: Kate Winslet Takes a Bite Out of Crime
With notes from Nick Saban, Charles Huff takes patient approach at Marshall
Charles Huff has no interest in wholesale changes at Marshall. The Thundering Herd's new coach didn't take the job at Marshall because it was a program in need of a massive overhaul. No, Marshall is fully capable of competing and winning championships. His predecessor, Doc Holliday , led the team to eight bowl games in 11 seasons. He was let go in January after being named Conference USA's coach of the year in a move that shocked many across college football. Huff, the former Alabama running backs coach and 247Sports' National Recruiter of the Year , rolled into Huntington with a clear vision but with the understanding he should not try to bull-doze players or staffers from the previous regime. Instead, the Maryland native asked questions and listened to those who best understand Marshall. "Tell me how Marshall has done it in the past, so that I have a little bit more education," Huff said. "That's not to say, well, we're gonna do the exact same thing but it's so I can … [Read more...] about With notes from Nick Saban, Charles Huff takes patient approach at Marshall
Edinburgh International Festival announces outdoor return with special pavilions to host events across city
The Edinburgh International Festival has announced a return for this summer, with three specially designed pavilions enabling the event to take place with the majority of shows outdoors for the first time in its 74-year history. Live performances will be held at a number of spaces across the Scottish capital, including at pavilions at Edinburgh Park, the University of Edinburgh's Old College Quad, and a third location to be confirmed. Organisers are also working with the Scottish government and other authorities to introduce COVID-19 safety measures including shorter performances with no intervals, physical distancing, regular cleaning, and contactless ticketing. Last year's festival, along with sister events such as the Edinburgh Fringe, was among the many cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, these measures mean it can return for 2021, running from 7 to 29 August. While lockdown restrictions may have been lifted by then, organisers of … [Read more...] about Edinburgh International Festival announces outdoor return with special pavilions to host events across city
