DETROIT : The U.S. government's highway safety agency is investigating complaints that the air bags may not inflate in a crash on thousands of General Motors vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers nearly 750,000 Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles from the 2020 and 2021 model years. Most are full-size pickup trucks and SUVs. The agency says in documents posted Tuesday on its website that it has 15 complaints of air bag malfunctions, including six crashes with eight reported injuries. It also has eight field reports. It says that GM issued a service bulletin to dealers about the problem in March, but there hasn't been a recall. The bulletin says rust particles can accumulate on a driver's air bag connection terminal. That can cause the air bag malfunction light to come on, and could stop the air bags from inflating. The agency says it opened the investigation to figure out how large the problem is and to assess safety … [Read more...] about US investigating possible air bag failures in GM vehicles

Lorraine host Ranvir Singh mortified as she’s forced on air with ‘big hair’ after losing track of time
LORRAINE host Ranvir Singh was left mortified this morning as she was forced on air with "big hair" after losing track of time. The 43-year-old star is covering the show while presenter Lorraine Kelly enjoys an Easter break - and Ranvir was caught off guard when she was needed on set for the usual live link during Good Morning Britain . She surprised GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Adil Ray with her unfinished look, admitting she'd had to race to the studio from her dressing room. The star explained that she'd become engrossed by Kate and Adil's interview with a US couple who adopted a baby they'd found on the subway shortly before she was due on. Seeing herself on camera, Ranvir gasped: "My hair's a bit big!" while Adil laughed. She went on: "I was in my dressing room and I was too busy watching that interview, they were like: 'You've got to be upstairs in the studio!' so I had to run in because I was so captivated by the interview." Kate chuckled in … [Read more...] about Lorraine host Ranvir Singh mortified as she’s forced on air with ‘big hair’ after losing track of time

Taiwan reports largest incursion yet by Chinese air force
TAIPEI — Twenty-five Chinese air force aircraft including fighters and nuclear-capable bombers entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Monday, the island’s government said, the largest reported incursion to date. While there was no immediate comment from Beijing, the news comes after the U.S. State Department on Friday issued new guidelines that will enable U.S. officials to meet more freely with Taiwanese officials, further deepening ties with Taipei. Chinese-claimed Taiwan has complained over the last few months of repeated missions by China’s air force near the self-ruled island, concentrated in the southwestern part of its air defense zone near the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands. The latest Chinese mission involved 14 J-16 and four J-10 fighters, as well as four H-6K bombers, which can carry nuclear weapons, two anti-submarine aircraft and an early warning aircraft, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said. It was the largest daily incursion since the ministry … [Read more...] about Taiwan reports largest incursion yet by Chinese air force
