Ex Hollyoaks star Adam Rickitt looks totally different as he reopens his gin bar in Cheshire

· April 13, 2021 ·

SOAP star Adam Rickitt looks totally different as he reopens his gin bar in Cheshire. The former Hollyoaks star, like other publicans, had to see his bar Dexter and Jones gin bar in Knutsford close for months as part of England's lockdown restrictions to help defeat the pandemic. Adam, who owns the bar with wife Katy Fawcett, looked over the moon as facilities were permitted to reopen on Monday, April 12, in the latest easing of lockdown. Like other pubs and restaurants, Adam can serve up his gin drinks outside. Posing with Katy outside their premises, gin in hand, Adam looked very different too his former Coronation Street character Nick Tilsley. The 42-year-old portrayed the role from 1997 to 1999 and then from 2002 to 2004. Back then Adam became something of a heartthrob with his blonde hair in curtains and sported a six pack. No longer clean shaven, Adam now sports a light beard and wears his hair shaven at the sides and short on top. He left Corrie the … [Read more...] about Ex Hollyoaks star Adam Rickitt looks totally different as he reopens his gin bar in Cheshire

At Mike Anderson’s Seafood, diners love servers just as much as the food. ‘It’s like a family.’

· April 13, 2021 ·

Customers always have their favorites at a restaurant. At Mike Anderson's Seafood, quite often that favorite is as much about the food as it is about the server. "They'll say, 'Oh, I want to sit with Miss Desiree today,'" said general manager Josh Jones. "And if Miss Desiree isn't here on that day, they're asking for their second choices, 'So, well, what about, uh, you know, is this person?' We see it on a daily basis here. It's like a family." Desiree Thibodeaux has been part of the family for 25 years. And that family connection between customers and staff along with a menu that's served up the same great dishes for 46 years is what has made Mike Anderson's a success. The restaurant is named for its owner, an All-American linebacker at LSU from 1967 to 1970. Mike Anderson opened his restaurant in a small house outside LSU's North Gate in 1975, then moved the restaurant to its current location at 1031 W. Lee Drive in the 1980s. "For sure, we're a staple in Baton … [Read more...] about At Mike Anderson’s Seafood, diners love servers just as much as the food. ‘It’s like a family.’

What Holly Willoughy and Amanda Holden are REALLY like as Stephen Mulhern lifts lid on co-stars

· April 13, 2021 ·

HE’S presented alongside a long line of ladies over the years, now Stephen Mulhern has lifted the lid on what his glam gal pals are really like. The all-round entertainer returns this Saturday with his gameshow, In For A Penny, one of the few programmes where he hasn’t had a female by his side. In an exclusive interview, he said: “I’ve been very lucky with my co-hosts. “What are they like? Emma Willis is what you see is what you get. She’s so honest that it’s incredible. She lets you know how it is. “ Holly Willoughby is just a good person. She’s good fun on a night out — absolutely brilliant. “Meanwhile, Fearne Cotton is the cool kid. And Amanda Holden , anything goes. “We were chatting away and Amanda just lifted up her top and showed me her boobs. Still to this day I don’t know how that happened.” The magician and former Butlin’s Redcoat also says he and friend Bradley Walsh are the last remaining “old school” entertainers on TV. Stephen said: “Not … [Read more...] about What Holly Willoughy and Amanda Holden are REALLY like as Stephen Mulhern lifts lid on co-stars

Pandemic Hardship/Pandemic Change

· March 16, 2020 ·

Most of us face multiple hardships in life—financial stress, job loss, divorce , the premature death of a spouse or parent. Painful and unsettling life events divert our lives onto unimaginable paths filled with stress and pain. Like most people, I have experienced a number of painful events: religious discrimination , the suicide of a loved one, divorce, and the death of parents. I have also been diagnosed with and treated for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), a series of blood cancers most of which are classified as incurable. These life-altering experiences have shaped the course of my personal and professional life—in unexpected ways. My life as an anthropologist has afforded me a particular perspective on existentially troubling life events. During early fieldwork in the Republic of Niger, one of the poorest nations in the world, I had to confront the psychological and existential ramifications of yearly meningitis outbreaks. These always occurred during the hot, dry … [Read more...] about Pandemic Hardship/Pandemic Change

You know the feeling: It’s summertime and you’re dining outside, but it’s a little cooler than you want it to be. While freestanding patio heaters are a common fixture of outdoor bars and restaurants, they are also terrific additions to a residential patio, helping you make the most of every spring or summer night — even ones when the breeze would normally move the party inside. Not every outdoor patio heater is built the same way, especially when it comes to how they are powered. When shopping, the main patio heater power sources you’ll come across are propane, gas and electric. Each requires a slightly different setup, and in the case of propane, an extra purchase. But perhaps the most important thing to remember when choosing the best patio heater for you is the amount … [Read more...] about These Are the Best Patio Heaters for Outdoor Dining at Home
