Student pleads guilty to molesting schoolmate during sleepover, taking video of another man in campus shower

· February 19, 2021 ·

SINGAPORE: A 20-year-old student admitted in court on Friday (Feb 19) that he molested a schoolmate during a sleepover and filmed another man who was taking a shower in a gym toilet on campus. The accused, who cannot be named as it might identify the victims, pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism and another of molestation. The court heard that the accused came to know the first victim in 2017 as they were in the same co-curricular activity group in school. On Aug 27, 2019, the victim stayed over at the accused's home for the night as they had a school camp nearby the next day. They slept on the same bed and when the accused woke up in the morning, he pulled open the victim's pants and tried to take a photo with his phone, but was unable to get a clear picture. He then molested the victim a few times. The victim lodged a police report in July 2020. The accused targeted his second victim in January 2020, while he was studying at a polytechnic. Court documents said … [Read more...] about Student pleads guilty to molesting schoolmate during sleepover, taking video of another man in campus shower

Corvette to contest WEC opener while Glickenhaus sits out

· February 26, 2021 ·

The latest-generation Corvette that came on stream in last year's IMSA Sportscar Championship will be raced by Oliver Gavin and Antonio Garcia in the eight-hour WEC race in Portugal on April 4. The entry provides further confirmation of Chevrolet's intent to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2021 after skipping last year's rescheduled edition of the French enduro as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read Also: Ferrari announces top flight Le Mans return with hypercar A further outing for the General Motors brand in the Spa WEC round at the beginning of May looks likely given that a reshuffle of the IMSA schedule means there will not be a race incorporating the GT Le Mans class between next month's Sebring 12 Hours and the Watkins Glen 6 Hours two weeks after Le Mans in June. Corvette Racing has made sporadic outings in the WEC in addition to its annual trip to Le Mans over the past two seasons. It contested the Shanghai round of the 2018/19 with a Corvette … [Read more...] about Corvette to contest WEC opener while Glickenhaus sits out

ROME: Isaac Drogba, son of former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier, has signed a deal with Italian fourth division side Folgore Caratese, the club announced on Monday. The 20-year-old, who operates in attack like his father, has joined the Lombardy-based side after spells in the Chelsea youth setup and with the Under-19 and B teams of French side Guingamp. His father Didier began his career in the French second tier at Le Mans and went on to win four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League at Chelsea, a Turkish title with Galatasaray, and become the Ivory Coast's all-time top scorer before retiring in 2018. The Other Legacy of the Stanford Prison Experiment

· January 28, 2021 ·

The Stanford Prison Experiment had major flaws. We still haven't addressed one big one. Source: RODNAE Productions/Pexels Psychology has dealt with only one of the two major legacies of the Stanford Prison Experiment . The Stanford Prison Experiment (which was not technically an experiment) appears in introductory textbooks as an illustration of the “power of the situation” to influence behavior. Philip Zimbardo recruited college students to conduct a simulation of a prison and found that even nice college men could be cruel and dehumanizing to each other in the prison simulation. The implication was that otherwise good people could easily be led to do bad things in the right situation—and the situation of running a prison brought this bad behavior out. One lasting effect of the Stanford Prison Experiment is the ethical reform it helped inspire in psychology. Zimbardo put college students through a humiliating, traumatizing experience, and only stopped when he was … [Read more...] about The Other Legacy of the Stanford Prison Experiment

‘I’m a refugee, not useless’: In Malaysia, they who lost it all help uplift others

· January 13, 2019 ·

KUALA LUMPUR: Sitting in a circle, the women one by one took turns to read aloud from their notes. “I’ve been suffering since yesterday,” recited one lady in English. Suffering from a fever, a cold, a headache – they learnt to say a litany of symptoms. Basic though the conversation might be, without this they wouldn't be able to tell a doctor what was wrong with them, and get the right - or even any - treatment. A few words that made all the difference from total helplessness. The 18-year-old responsible for starting such classes? He was one of their own - that is to say, one of approximately 77,000 Rohingya refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia. Mohamudul Hasson Roshid arrived in the country in 2016. Fresh off the boat after a harrowing journey from Bangladesh via Aceh, the teenager quickly set about looking to the needs of his fellow refugees who, unlike him, didn't have the advantage of knowing English. He co-founded the Rohingya Peace Institute as a school for … [Read more...] about ‘I’m a refugee, not useless’: In Malaysia, they who lost it all help uplift others
