Friednash: As America’s duopoly circles the drain, prominent Coloradans jump their parties’ ships

· February 25, 2021 ·

A recent Gallup poll placed Americans’ interest in a third major political party at an all-time high: 62% of Americans say the parties do a poor job representing the American people and a third party is needed. Only 33% believe they are doing an adequate job of representing the people. The fact that 42% of active Colorado voters register as unaffiliated is a clear rejection of the two-party system. Merely five years ago, Colorado party registration gave Democrats 32%, Republicans 33% and unaffiliated voters 35%. Today, Democrats have 30% and Republicans 27%. Unaffiliated voters have increased by a stunning 570,653 total voters. To understand this dynamic, look no further than former Denver City Councilman Albus Brooks, a Democrat, and state Rep. Norma Anderson, a Republican, who both recently switched their party affiliation. Albus Brooks, a lifelong Democrat, moved to Colorado in 1997 to attend and play football at the University of Colorado where he was once named one of the … [Read more...] about Friednash: As America’s duopoly circles the drain, prominent Coloradans jump their parties’ ships

Why Grease 2 Was The Most Important Movie Ever

· February 25, 2021 ·

“I want a whole lot more than the boy next door I want hell on wheels” From “ Cool Rider ” by Michelle Pfeiffer Nerds and badasses. Up until at least the early 1980’s you could witness these different humans in the anthropological petri dish known as the American high school cafeteria. Bad asses would be at one table and nerds at another - with little cross-pollination. And it felt as though people were pre-destined from birth to be either one or the other forever. Source: Michael Dobrinski on Unsplash, used with permission In retrospect, these seemingly polar opposite groups actually had something in common. They were both a little off center from the more traditional “normal” kids. Badasses seemed a bit dangerous like the “Greasers” from The Outsiders . They often wore leather jackets, were into cars and motorcycles, smoked, got into fights and often didn’t feel particularly compelled to play by the rules. They seemed both exciting and forbidding. On the … [Read more...] about Why Grease 2 Was The Most Important Movie Ever

Florida Man, 83, Shot Neighbor in Heated Dispute About Ducks and Geese, Daughter Says

· February 24, 2021 ·

An 83-year old Florida man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot his neighbor over a dispute about feeding local ducks and geese. Victor Ezquerra allegedly approached his neighbor, Jose Gambarrutta, on Tuesday morning as Gambarrutta sat on his own front porch. The two men then got into a scuffle and Ezquerra eventually shot Gambarrutta in his arm, a witness said. Gambarrutta eventually released the gun, and the witness then called police after kicking the gun away, Local 10 News reported. Gambarrutta recorded the incident on his cell phone, leading police to arrest Ezquerra later on Tuesday. Ezquerra is being held without bond after a Wednesday court hearing. Gambarrutta remains in the hospital recovering from his injury. Ezquerra's daughter told the news outlet that the shooting occurred because of an ongoing dispute involving her father feeding local ducks and geese. While the nature of the dispute remains unclear, such birds can be a … [Read more...] about Florida Man, 83, Shot Neighbor in Heated Dispute About Ducks and Geese, Daughter Says

No apologies for defending herdsmen — Gov Mohammed

· February 24, 2021 ·

Kindly Share This Story: By Charly Agwam – Bauchi Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has stated that he won’t apologize for defending Fulani herders against alleged ethnic profiling of herdsmen. Governor Mohammed made the assertion on Wednesday during the official launching of the 2020/2021 annual livestock vaccination campaign, held at Galambi Cattle ranch in Bauchi. He said that the Fulani over the years have made so many sacrifices in their nomadic and pastoral life, noting that they provide the protein needs of the country through the supply of beef, milk, and other essential stuff. READ ALSO: Bala Mohammed not a terrorist, Fani-Kayode tells Ortom “We kicked against the profiling of the Fulanis as killers and kidnappers. We have no apology for what we have done because what we have done is to say the truth, that there is no tribe or group that is free from criminality. We are not saying that to spite anybody or spark unnecessary … [Read more...] about No apologies for defending herdsmen — Gov Mohammed

‘El Camino’ Cheat Sheet: ‘Breaking Bad’ Episodes to Binge Before the Spinoff Movie

· October 4, 2019 ·

The 62 episodes of Breaking Bad make for one of the most satisfying and consistent viewing experiences in TV history. And with the sequel film, El Camino , set to debut October 11th on Netflix, you may feel inclined to binge the whole series, either to refresh your memory or simply put you in the mood. But 62 hours is a lot to watch a second or third time in the midst of the Peak TV flood, and all but impossible if you’ve put off said binge until now. As someone who’s literally written a book about Breaking Bad , I’ve been asked a lot lately about what episodes might be most useful to watch before the movie comes out. Vince Gilligan has kept so much about the movie under wraps — beyond the fact that it deals with what Jesse Pinkman ( Aaron Paul ) does in the immediate aftermath of the series finale — that it’s hard to say what you need to see. But this would be my suggested refresher course on all things Jesse Pinkman, in order of importance: “Confessions” … [Read more...] about ‘El Camino’ Cheat Sheet: ‘Breaking Bad’ Episodes to Binge Before the Spinoff Movie
