Masterchef stars Gregg Wallace and John Torode say they are better looking than Ant & Dec

· February 22, 2021 ·

MASTERCHEF duo Gregg Wallace and John Torode are a match made in TV heaven – just like Saturday Night Takeaway duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly. But how do the kitchen kings rate themselves against the Geordie lads ? When asked in an exclusive interview, “Are you a more mature and wise Ant and Dec?” Gregg quipped: “No — actually, I think we’re a more attractive Ant and Dec.” John added: “Are we more mature? Well, we’re definitely older!” Masterchef returns to our screens next week for its 17th series. The competition will no doubt rest on a knife edge once more as the fresh set of cooks show off their signature dishes in a bid to please the Aussie chef and East End foodie — or as Gregg likes to call himself, “the spoon-for-hire”. And fans will be pleased to know that the pair intend to continue making the BBC1 show — which returns on March 1 at 9pm — for as long as they can. Gregg said: “I’m never going to stop doing it. I expect to be doing that when … [Read more...] about Masterchef stars Gregg Wallace and John Torode say they are better looking than Ant & Dec

John David Washington cements his stardom in new thriller Tenet

· September 3, 2020 ·

Christopher Nolan only casts movie stars as his leading men. From Leonardo DiCaprio and Hugh Jackman to Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey, Nolan's actors are larger-than-life, capital "S" stars. So it was more than a little exciting for John David Washington when Nolan hand-picked him to anchor his most ambitious film to date, Tenet, as a glamorous and cool spy known only as The Protagonist. The 36-year-old may be the eldest son of another capital "S" star, Denzel Washington, but lineage is hardly a guarantee in Hollywood at this level. Besides, he's only recently gotten started. He spent his 20s in a different career: professional football. READ: Will Christopher Nolan’s Tenet tempt audiences back to the cinema in the wake of a global pandemic? Technically, Washington started acting when he was seven, in a small role alongside his father in Spike Lee's Malcolm X, and again a few years later in Devil In A Blue Dress. Just over five years ago, he started quietly … [Read more...] about John David Washington cements his stardom in new thriller Tenet

Tennis: Disqualified Djokovic must embrace ‘bad guy’ role, says McEnroe

· September 7, 2020 ·

NEW YORK: Novak Djokovic will have to get used to being the "bad guy" following his disqualification from the US Open for striking a line judge with a ball, American great John McEnroe has said. The world number one was defaulted at 5-6 down in the first set of his match against Pablo Carreno Busta on Sunday (Sep 6) after a ball he swiped in frustration hit a female official in the throat. The 33-year-old Serbian posted an apology on Instagram, vowing to take away valuable lessons that would aid his "growth and evolution as a player and human being." McEnroe, whose own behaviour frequently landed him in hot water with officials during his playing career, said Djokovic had buckled under the pressure. "The pressure just got to him. I think a lot has been going on off the court," McEnroe, who was disqualified in the fourth round of the 1990 Australian Open after being handed three code violations, told ESPN. "It's obviously affected him and whether he likes it or not, he's … [Read more...] about Tennis: Disqualified Djokovic must embrace ‘bad guy’ role, says McEnroe
