Air pollution claimed approximately 54,000 lives in Delhi in 2020, according to a Greenpeace Southeast Asia analysis of cost to the economy due to air pollution. Six Indian cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow — feature in the global analysis. Globally, approximately 1,60,000 deaths have been attributed to PM 2.5 air pollution in the five most populous cities — Delhi, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo. The damage is “equally worrying” in other Indian cities, said the report, released on Thursday. “An estimated 25,000 avoidable deaths in Mumbai in 2020 have been attributed to air pollution. Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad estimated an approximate 12,000, 11,000, and 11,000 avoidable deaths respectively due to polluted air,” it said. Realme launched its Narzo 30 smartphone series in India today. Alongside, the company also launched its Buds Air 2 wireless earbuds. The newly launched earbuds come powered by R2 chipset and is equipped with Bluetooth version 5.2 for wireless connectivity. Realme Buds Air 2 comes with a 10mm Hi-Fi driver. The device supports active noise cancellation of up to 25dB. The earbuds come with dual microphones with support for ENC noise cancelling algorithm. Air taxi startup Joby to go public in $6.6 billion blank-check deal
Joby Aviation, the 12-year-old electric air taxi startup partnered with Toyota Motor Corp and Uber Technologies , will go public in a $6.6 billion reverse merger with blank check company Reinvent Technology Partners, the firms said on Wednesday. California-based Joby aims to begin a commercial passenger service in 2024, using its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Potential air taxi competitors include well-funded German startups Volocopter and Lilium. Joby is being taken public via a special purpose acquisition company ( SPAC ) headed by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, Zynga founder Mark Pincus and longtime investor Michael Thompson.
