Kindly Share This Story: The Supreme Court on Wednesday, fixed March 5, for judgment in the Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee Chairmanship suit. A chieftain of the APC, Igo Aguma, filed the suit against the Court of Appeal judgment that set aside the decision of the High Court, which had earlier declared him the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in the state. Justice Amina Augie, who led a five-member panel of justices, fixed the date after listening to the arguments of the parties in the matter. The appeal court sacked Aguma as the caretaker committee chairman of the APC and recognised Isaac Ogbobula, as the authentic caretaker committee leader. It held that it was the exclusive right of the National Executive Committee of the APC under the party’s Constitution to appoint a Caretaker Committee for any organ of the party. However, Aguma rejected the judgment, raising some issues, which he said vitiated the … [Read more...] about Supreme Court to deliver judgment in Rivers APC tussle March 5

Trevor Story sets 30-30 goal, deflects talk about his Rockies’ future
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Star shortstop Trevor Story has become adept at deflecting questions about his future with the Rockies, but he’s not shy about addressing one of his goals. On Tuesday, as the Rockies held their first full-squad workout of spring training, Story said he wants to be a 30-30 man: 30 home runs, 30 stolen bases in a season. “I felt like I was on a good pace last year,” he said of the 60-game season. “Obviously, we didn’t play enough games, but that’s always been on my radar to do that.” Last season, Story led the National League with 15 stolen bases and hit 11 home runs. He nearly joined the 30-30 club in 2018 (37 homers, 27 stolen bases) and ’19 (35, 23). Story — eligible to become a free agent after this season, which has led to persistent trade rumors — said he has not talked to the Rockies about a contract extension. “I’m focused on personally being the best teammate I can be,” he said. “I try not to look too far ahead. I’m trying to be where my feet are, … [Read more...] about Trevor Story sets 30-30 goal, deflects talk about his Rockies’ future
As Trump Demonizes Vote-by-Mail, His Campaign Is Urging People to Vote By Mail
Donald Trump has made no secret of his disgust with voting by mail . He’s blasted the practice as creating “tremendous potential for voter fraud,” claimed it would spark “a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of ballots” and insisted it would create “the most CORRUPT ELECTION in our Nation’s History!” In his debate with Joe Biden, Trump spun out fictional tales of tampering, insisting that ballots were “being sold. They’re being dumped in rivers. This is a horrible thing for our country.” It is ironic, then, that the president’s own re-election campaign has now launched a wide-reaching ad campaign on Facebook promoting absentee balloting in key swing states. These ads insist that mail-in voting can be done “SAFELY AND SECURELY.” pic.twitter.com/SBm4EFQRki — Tim Dickinson (@7im) October 20, 2020 The language on these ads makes no reference to potential fraud or abuse, as Trump has. In one video ad , the president’s daughter Ivanka tells voters, “Team … [Read more...] about As Trump Demonizes Vote-by-Mail, His Campaign Is Urging People to Vote By Mail

The Story of America’s First Female Millionaire
She was the first child in her family born free in 1867 in a part of the South—Louisiana—devastated by the Civil War. Many plantations had been burned down in the region, and nearly 4 million formerly enslaved freedmen and women in the South, where 90 percent of all African Americans in the country lived, were struggling to survive. They had little in the way of money, and at the end of planting seasons, they often had nothing to show for their work because they owed money to the plantation owners who'd been their former owners. Which is why the story of Madam C.J. Walker, who is recorded as the first female self-made millionaire in Guinness World Records, and whose life inspired the Netflix series Self Made , is so compelling. And important. Few people have worked harder to preserve Walker's legacy than her great-great-granddaughter, A'Lelia Bundles, who wrote On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C.J. Walker , a New York Times bestseller and the book upon which … [Read more...] about The Story of America’s First Female Millionaire
