Adam Kinzinger’s Bold Prediction: Trump Will Fade Away

· March 5, 2021 ·

Adam Kinzinger outside the White House in 2019. Photo: Al Drago/Bloomberg via Getty Images Adam Kinzinger was one of ten House Republicans to vote to impeach Donald Trump over his incitement of the January 6 attack on the Capitol, and for that he was personally attacked by Trump, censured by Republican activists in his Illinois district, and even denounced by members of his own family . Yet the six-term congressman and Air Force veteran isn’t bothered. He spoke to Intelligencer about why he launched a political-action committee to defend Republicans such as himself and move his party back toward the mainstream, and he made a bold prediction: Trump will fade away. Since you’ve gotten started with Country First , what’s the response been like? It’s been really good. And I’ll tell you, I’ve had a lot of names I can’t say, but a lot of people, big names that just call me saying “Thanks.” And it’s like the kind of people that it’s surprising but also that’s great. But … [Read more...] about Adam Kinzinger’s Bold Prediction: Trump Will Fade Away

State, city leaders push transparency to increase trust in COVID-19 vaccine

· March 4, 2021 ·

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R) said ensuring transparency is one of the main reasons for his state’s success in vaccine distribution, citing regular communication with constituents. Speaking at The Hill’s “ COVID-19 Vaccine: Trust and Communication ” event Thursday, Justice described how he holds press conferences multiple times a week, stressing to residents that they should get their dose as soon as they are able and not to listen to misinformation about the vaccine. “The number of bad stories around the vaccines are next to nothing, and the bad stories around this situation, if you get this dreaded disease, everything is going to eat you up,” he told The Hill's Steve Clemons. ADVERTISEMENT West Virginia has recently been able to expand the populations eligible for the vaccine because of its success rate in vaccinating the initial groups. The state is now allowing residents age 50 and older, education workers age 40 to 50 and those 16 and older with certain … [Read more...] about State, city leaders push transparency to increase trust in COVID-19 vaccine

247Sports’ Josh Pate explains why Oklahoma is a legitimate national title contender in 2021

· February 19, 2021 ·

NORMAN, Okla. — This could be the year that Oklahoma finally breaks through and wins its eighth National Championship. At least, that’s what 247Sports’ Josh Pate thinks, and surely he’s not by himself in that thinking. “There are two things kind of converging,” Pate said on Late Kick. “The first thing is I think Lincoln Riley’s got his best team. I’ve said that before. I don’t think I’m alone on that island at all. But I think he’s got his best team, and it’s nice to have a balance finally to where you can’t look at them and say, ‘Yeah, they’re good offensively, but.’ “See, what we used to follow the ‘but’ [with] is, ‘Well, they can’t play defense at all.’ And then we get to this past year and all of the sudden that Alex Grinch system and that formula starts to take root a little bit as the season goes on, and by the end of the year Oklahoma, they were on the fringes of the playoff conversation. I don’t know how realistic it was to expect them to be in the playoff because they … [Read more...] about 247Sports’ Josh Pate explains why Oklahoma is a legitimate national title contender in 2021

Genius food waste app promises to knock £630 off your annual supermarket bill

· March 5, 2021 ·

The average household in the UK wastes £720 a year on food that ends up in the bin, figures show, while 9% of the world goes starving. The findings, released by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), paint a bleak picture of household waste amid a green-revolution, with the number of supermarkets cutting plastic waste and donating to food banks at an all-time high. According to WRAP, one third of the world's food is thrown out every year - making it one of the largest CO2 emitters in the world. More than 70% of this is household waste - 4.5million tonnes to be exact, enough to fill 38million wheelie bins. So what are we doing to tackle the problem at home? Alex Vlassopulos and Jamie Ritchie are the founders of food waste app, Kitche . Created in 2018, their vision is to tackle household waste - which collectively costs families £15billion a year. By teaching consumers how to be smarter with their food, Kitche could save households £630 over 12 months. "I … [Read more...] about Genius food waste app promises to knock £630 off your annual supermarket bill
