‘Netaji would have done his best to stop partition’

Next O ver six decades after his death, freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose remains one of the most intriguing figures of India's Independence struggle. In his recently released book His Majesty's Opponent , Harvard historian and Netaji's grand nephew Sugata Bose chronicles his fascinating life, revealing some little known facts about the great leader and revisiting some of the most landmark events of his life. Here's the chat transcript: V asks: Why did Netaji resign from the Congress presidentship even after he won against Jawaharlal Nehru. Wasn't it an emotion decision and a bad one at that? In the second part of his four-part interview to Arthur Pais, biographer Sugata Bose talks about Netaji's love story. Part I: Grand nephew turns Netaji's biographer I t was in 1993 that a historian handed over to the author some 165 letters written by Subhas Chandra Bose to his wife Emilie, whom he secretly married in Austria. This came as a huge and pleasant surprise to Sugata Bose, he admits. "The last major biography of Netaji was published in 1990. Alex Pettyfer is set to become a dad for the first time as his wife Toni Garrn is pregnant. The 30-year-old actor, who married Toni in October last year, confirmed the exciting news with a cute post on social media. Taking to Instagram on Friday, Tom shared a video of 28-year-old Toni as she cradled her growing baby bump while posing for Vogue Germany . Alongside the clip, he simply added the caption: "DADDY." The Magic Mike actor was quickly inundated with messages as fans flocked to congratulate the happy couple. "CONGRATS!!! So so happy for the two of you!" penned one follower. "Wow!! Congrats!
