Maryland senators push for permanent status for TPS holders

Maryland’s Democratic senators are hoping to secure permanent status for more than 400,000 residents who first came to the U.S. temporarily.The bill would help those with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) gain residency in the U.S., ending a cycle by which holders have to apply to renew their status every six to 18 months. The status has been given to people whose home counties have been hit by a natural disaster, civil unrest or other disruption starting in 1990. The legislation comes as TPS holders battle a decision from the Trump administration, which sought to end the status for those from Sudan, Haiti, El Salvador and Nicaragua, many of whom came to the U.S. years before. TP Bank’s profit doubles year-on-year

The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio was kept at 0.97 per cent, still within permitted the level. The bank is in the process of completing procedures to list shares on the HCM Stock Exchange (HoSE). TPBank shares are expected to be listed on the exchange in April. The bank’s shareholders also expect to receive dividends for the first time after six years of successful restructuring. TPBank posted impressive growth in 2017. Its profit rose by 70 per cent from 2016 to more than VND1.2 trillion. Its total assets were VND124 trillion, up 17.2 per cent. Arvind Swami, Kunchacko Boban team up for bilingual road movie Ottu

After almost 25 years since his last Malayalam film Devaraagam, Tamil star Arvind Swami will be making his Mollywood comeback with a project that will see him share screen space with Kunchacko Boban . Talking about the upcoming movie titled Ottu , its filmmaker Fellini TP tells us, “It revolves around two friends and their bond. The story happens between Mangalore and Mumbai. It can be categorised into a road movie because it has those elements. The film will be a bilingual that will be released in Malayalam and Tamil.” On roping in Arvind for the film, the Theevandi filmmaker says, “It happened almost two years ago. I met him through a friend called Shaneem. Arvind had a lot of offers coming in from Malayalam but he’s pretty choosy.
