Airbnb to offer housing to 100,000 crisis responders
SAN FRANCISCO: Airbnb said on Thursday (Mar 26) it would provide free or subsidised housing for up to 100,000 relief workers responding to the coronavirus pandemic around the world. The home-sharing platform said it would subsidise the stays for health professionals and other emergency responders to enable them to live closer to their work locations. MARTIN Lewis is urging eligible households to apply for £5,000 Green Homes Grant vouchers amid rumours the scheme could be pulled. The Green Homes Grant initiative gives families money to spend on energy-saving measures around their home, such as insulation or a better boiler. The government says households could save more than £200 annually on energy bills thanks to the scheme. But speaking during his Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV last night, Martin said rumours are spreading that the project could close in March. The government has yet to officially make an announcement on whether these reports are true. With major nuclear and wind power projects in operation, the province saw its installed capacity of clean energy production grow to around 35.1 GW by 2020 from 25.3 GW five years ago, according to the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Co., Ltd. Clean energy accounted for 55.1 percent of the total installed power generating capacity in the province, with the share of nuclear power ranking first in the country. The clean energy power plants generated 125.6 billion kWh of electricity in 2020, up from 89.9 billion kWh in 2015, accounting for around half of the total electricity production in the province, the State Grid branch said.
