Google kills its most affordable VR headset
Google seems to have completely given up all hopes on VR and VR headsets . After dropping support for its Daydream platform in the latest Android 11 operating system, Google has now discontinued its most affordable VR headset-- Google Cardboard . The Cardboard VR headset will no longer be available after five years of its first release. “We are no longer selling Google Cardboard on the Google Store. Google says fired 48 for sexual harassment over two years
SAN FRANCISCO: Google said on Thursday (Oct 25) it had fired 48 employees in the past two years - including 13 senior executives - as a result of sexual harassment allegations, citing "an increasingly hard line" on inappropriate conduct. The US tech giant issued the statement from chief executive Sundar Pichai in response to a New York Times report that one senior Google employee, Android creator Andy Rubin, received an exit package worth US$90 million as he faced allegations of misconduct, and that Google had covered up other claims of sexual harassment. It didn’t reveal payment terms but said publications joining the Google News Showcase include the Wall Street Journal , Barron’s , MarketWatch and the New York Post in the U.S.; The Times and The Sunday Times and The Sun in the UK; and, in Australia, a range of platforms including The Australian, the news.com.au site, Sky News, and multiple metropolitan and local titles. Hackers lure users, install malware via Google Search
New Delhi, Cyber security researchers have found a new malware that is tricking Google into treating hacked websites as trustworthy sources and presenting innocent users with apparently "perfect matches" to their search queries on the platform. The hackers are using the malware dubbed as "Gootloader to lure "well-meaning users" into installing the malware on their devices, putting them at ransomeware risk, according to the report by Naked Security, which is global cyber security firm Sophos's threat intelligence unit. The Gootkit malware family has been around more than half a decade -- a mature Trojan with functionality centered around banking credential theft. However, in recent years, almost as much effort has gone into improvement of its delivery method as has gone into the malware itself. This is how the modus operandi works. The hackers break into hundreds of web servers and implant artificially generated content containing phrases that search engines are likely … [Read more...] about Hackers lure users, install malware via Google Search
