What North Texas School Districts Have To Say About Gov. Greg Abbott Fully Reopening Texas

· March 2, 2021 ·

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) –  School districts are scrambling after Governor Greg Abbott announced the state-wide mask mandate would be rolled back next Wednesday, March 10. Districts across North Texas are now waiting for the Texas Education Agency to issue new guidance. “If the governor was going to lift the mandate, wouldn’t the Texas Education Agency have some type of guidance prepared and ready?” asked President of Texas AFT Zeph Capo. Capo said he hopes districts will be allowed to continue with their current masking practices. He’s unclear though on if that will happen because the TEA guidance directly refers to the governor’s mask mandate. For now, Dallas ISD plans to continue following CDC guidelines. In a statement, the district said it doesn’t anticipate changes before the end of the school year. Fort Worth ISD plans to continue with current requirements as well, absent new guidance from the TEA. “My advice to parents would be that they should advocate with … [Read more...] about What North Texas School Districts Have To Say About Gov. Biden Says It’s ‘Big Mistake’ For Texas To Lift Mask Mandate: ‘Last Thing We Need Is Neanderthal Thinking’

· March 3, 2021 ·

(CBSDFW.COM) – President Joe Biden didn’t mince words on Wednesday when he was asked about Texas rolling back on public health measures by lifting the statewide face mask mandate. “I think it’s a big mistake. I hope everybody’s realized by now, these masks make a difference,” Biden said. “We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way of which we’re able to get vaccines in people’s arms.” READ MORE: Dallas Homicide Detectives Say 20-Year-Old Jason Izaguirre Found Shot To Death In His Backyard “The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime everything’s fine, take off your mask, forget it. It still matters,” he added. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made the announcement on Tuesday that the face mask order will be lifted on Wednesday, March 10, along with allowing businesses of any kind to operate at 100%. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said his state will also lift its mask mandate. Dallas County Judge And Health Director Say It’s ‘Still Too Early’ To Fully Reopen Texas

· March 2, 2021 ·

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Dr. Philip Huang told County Commissioners Tuesday morning, it’s too early to do away with all COVID-19 restrictions. “Just because there’s some relaxation (of policies) at the state level, that is not what our experts recommend,” Dr. Huang said before Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement it’s “time to reopen Texas 100%” “It’s still too early,” Dr. Huang said. “We would love to be able to get back to normal, but with all the variables that are out there, we still have a lot more people that need to be vaccinated. It’s not the time to relax.” New COVID-19 cases and hospitalization rates have been trending down in North Texas and much of the state in recent weeks. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins tweeted his displeasure with Gov. Abbott’s announcement, saying, “… On the day 25 new deaths raise @dallascountytx death toll above 3k , @GovAbbott lifted all his state orders designed to protect you and those you … [Read more...] about Dallas County Judge And Health Director Say It’s ‘Still Too Early’ To Fully Reopen Texas

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – It’s a ruling Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt High School coach DeMarqus James said he’s never seen in all his years of basketball. In his opinion, James said, “Officials should’ve made a different judgement call but at the end of the day they didn’t and it’s something we have to live with.” READ MORE: Mesquite Man Wins Big On Texas Lottery 'Weekly Grand' Scratch Ticket, Takes Home Nearly $900K The Chaparrals will have to live with being called for a technical foul — with seconds left and the game tied — for excessive celebration when O.D. Wyatt players jumped off the bench and onto the court in excitement. They were excited because they had just forced a jump ball which would’ve have given them the final possession and a chance to knock off defending 5A state champion Mansfield Timberview. When asked if the refs ever discussed with him the possibility of giving his team a warning, James explained, “They came together as a crew and decided what they decided. … [Read more...] about OD Wyatt Basketball Coach Reacts To Heartbreaking Technical Foul That Led To Playoff Loss

SpaceX Starship pressure test blows up Musk’s Mars rocket prototype

· November 20, 2019 ·

It looks as though a little re-assembly may be required on the biggest prototype yet of Elon Musk's Mars Starship . The early version of the next generation SpaceX rocket appeared to fail during a pressurization test, sending billowing clouds of gas and its hood miles into the air at the company's Boca Chica, Texas test site on Wednesday. A webcam streaming from nearby South Padre Island caught the "anomaly" that occurred at 3:27 p.m. Central Time. A more distant view catches the sizable hood falling back to the ground: "The purpose of today's test was to pressurize systems to the max, so the outcome was not completely unexpected," a SpaceX spokesperson told CNET. "There were no injuries, nor is this a serious setback." Fortunately, SpaceX also has another prototype - "Mk2" - at its Florida facilities, so we may still see the next phase of Starship development soon. On Twitter, Musk said SpaceX will take the opportunity to move on to its next iteration, "Mk3," which he … [Read more...] about SpaceX Starship pressure test blows up Musk’s Mars rocket prototype
