HCMC firms to spend $261 mln on environmental projects

The HCMC Urban Environment Company (Citenco) and the HCMC Finance and Investment State-owned Company (HFIC) said the projects would use advanced technologies to promote sustainable development and foster a green economy. One of the projects is to complete a 20 ha landfill at the Phuoc Hiep waste treatment complex in Cu Chi District. The landfill, which can process 2,000 tons of waste each day, is expected to commence within the first quarter this year and be completed in three months. The VND200 billion landfill project will be a backup plan when existing landfills become overloaded or stop operating. The construction of a VND3 trillion waste-to-energy power plant within the same landfill is another project. With an incinerating capacity of 1,000 tons of waste a day, the plant is expected to help reduce trash in the city while producing electricity for the national grid. China firmly opposes British FM’s remarks on Xinjiang at UNHRC

(Xinhua/Hu Huhu) BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday expressed firm opposition to British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab's remarks on Xinjiang at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), saying those words are obviously driven by "ulterior motives." Raab has called for UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet or another independent expert to be given "urgent and unfettered access" to Xinjiang and said that there should be a resolution at the council to this effect. The NHS is facing a legal challenge over its data deal with controversial Silicon Valley firm Palantir, Sky News can reveal. Palantir, which has become notorious for its close ties to security services and immigration agencies in the United States, secured its first ever deal to handle NHS data in March last year for the nominal sum of £1. Legal group Foxglove announced today that it was bringing a court case against the health service to force it to reconsider the contract, which was extended in December 2020 and is now worth £23.5m.
