US Air Force Tests Fires Minuteman 3 Ballistic Missile as Biden to Review Nuclear Update Plans

· February 24, 2021 ·

The US carried out its latest test of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Tuesday night, launching one of the nuclear-capable rockets from the California coast to a missile range in Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, 4,200 miles away. “The test demonstrates that the United States’ nuclear deterrent is safe, secure, reliable and effective to deter twenty-first century threats and reassure our allies,” the Air Force said in a press release . “These test launches verify the accuracy and reliability of the ICBM weapon system, providing valuable data to ensure a continued safe, secure and effective nuclear deterrent.” The missiles are typically armed with either a single 450-kiloton W87 nuclear warhead or three 350-kiloton W78 warheads, each of which can strike separate targets. However, missiles are unarmed when test-fired. Tuesday’s test is the first since the Biden administration renewed the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) with … [Read more...] about US Air Force Tests Fires Minuteman 3 Ballistic Missile as Biden to Review Nuclear Update Plans

German court convicts ‘IS recruiter’ Abu Walaa

· January 24, 2021 ·

A court in the northern German city of Celle has convicted a radical Islamist preacher and three co-defendants for recruiting and radicalizing young people in Germany for the "Islamic State" terrorist group. He has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison. Prosecutors sought a sentence of 11.5 years for Abu Walaa, who is believed to be the "Islamic State" jihadist group's de facto leader in Germany . The defense, however, demanded an acquittal, with Walaa himself declining to make a closing statement last week. What did the court say? The court pronounced Walaa guilty of supporting and being a member of the terrorist organization. The judges said the Islamist preacher and his network radicalized young people — mainly in the country's Ruhr region and the state of Lower Saxony — and sent them to the IS combat zones. Three co-defendants received prison sentences of between four and eight years. Who is Abu Walaa? Walaa, 37, was born in Iraq and came to … [Read more...] about German court convicts ‘IS recruiter’ Abu Walaa

Protests swell after Myanmar junta raises spectre of force

· February 22, 2021 ·

Protesters gathered in Myanmar’s biggest city on Monday(NZT Tuesday) despite the ruling junta’s threat to use lethal force against people who join a general strike against the military's takeover three weeks ago. More than 1000 protesters gathered near the US Embassy in Yangon despite barriers blocking the way, but left to avoid a confrontation after 20 military trucks with riot police arrived nearby. Protests continued in other parts of the city, including next to Sule Pagoda, a traditional gathering point. Factories, workplaces and shops were shuttered across the country on Monday (local time) in response to the call for a nationwide strike. The closings extended to the capital, Naypyitaw. The junta had warned against a general strike in a public announcement Sunday night (local time) on state television broadcaster MRTV. Convicted murderer mows down two teen cousins at 70 mph as they held hands crossing throwing them 50ft into the air

· February 24, 2021 ·

A CONVICTED murderer recently released from jail mowed down two teenage cousins at 70 mph on a pedestrian crossing after he stole a black Lexus. Horrific dash-cam footage shows the moment the pair were hit as they crossed a road on a green pedestrian light in Russia’s Ulan-Ude city. Alina Unagaeva, 16, and Kirill Bazhenov, 17, holding hands as they walked, were thrown 50ft into the air from the impact of the crash, say reports. The tragic pair died at the scene, with Kirill killed instantly, and his younger cousin dying moments later. Although a female medic at the scene rushed to help, the youngsters could not be saved from the massive impact of the crash. Shocking video shows the moment the “happy and kind” cousins can be seen stepping off the kerb to cross the road, as a speeding car hits them with huge force. Kirill died immediately and Alina had a pulse, but she died by the time the ambulance arrived. The speeding Lexus with its lights off, despite … [Read more...] about Convicted murderer mows down two teen cousins at 70 mph as they held hands crossing throwing them 50ft into the air

Agadoo singer forced to pawn prized Rolex after losing fortune gets harsh reality check

· February 23, 2021 ·

Dene Michael had it all during the 80s - but now life has taken a drastic turn downhill. The former 80s pop star rose to fame as a member of the band Black Lace, who became face for their novelty party record 'Agadoo'. Dene replaced original band member Colin Gibb in 1986, singing their iconic tune on tours and featuring in another novelty party song 'Wig Wam Bam'. At the band's peak, Michael used to go on holiday six times a year, owned multiple house and even a boat. "Through my career I’ve been top of the tree. Number 2 in the charts. I could go on holiday six times a year," he says on new ITV series Million Pound Pawn. "I bought nice houses, designer watches, a boat, a rolls royce. It was so easy to go and buy what you needed. "After that in the 90s it went down a bit. We didn’t get as much TV. A few years of that and it soon goes. You've just got to realise it doesn’t last forever." Black Lace now consists of two separate groups, including a full-time international … [Read more...] about Agadoo singer forced to pawn prized Rolex after losing fortune gets harsh reality check
