He said he heard desperate screams from neighbours alerting people below that the child had climbed over a balcony railing and was clinging on for her life. The 31-year-old driver climbed onto the corrugated roof of a small structure on the ground floor moments before the three-year-old girl lost her grip. As she plummeted to the ground, Manh managed to grab her and pluck the baby to safety. “I don’t think I’m a hero. Anybody would have done the same,” he said. On March 1, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter praising Manh for his bravery. SINGAPORE: An SMRT bus driver has been hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19, the transport operator said on Thursday (Apr 2). The bus driver was last at work on Mar 27 operating service 972, said president of SMRT Road Holdings Tan Kian Heong in a statement. "His rest day was Mar 28. He felt unwell on Mar 29 and saw a doctor that day," said Mr Tan, adding that the bus captain visited the doctor again on Mar 31 and was taken to hospital. "He is currently warded and in a stable condition. We are closely monitoring his condition and offering assistance to him and his family," said Mr Tan. Bengaluru (Karnataka): Taxi and autorickshaw unions in Karnataka have demanded an increase in fare, citing the spiralling fuel prices . The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP), Special Commissioner J Manjunath on Monday said, "Taxi and autorickshaw drivers' associations gave a proposal requesting an increase in fare." The official committee meeting has been called after 3 weeks to look into the matter, he added. On February 25, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that she won't be able to answer when the prices of petrol and diesel will be reduced. "I won't be able to say 'when'. A MUM whose son died in a hit and run road collision, only for the driver responsible to serve just FIVE MONTHS imprisonment, is campaigning for stiffer jail terms. Louise Smyth, aged 49, was widowed 20 years ago, when husband Darren was killed in a motorbike accident after misjudging a bend in a road. It left her to bring up their two sons alone. She later had another son, from a different relationship. Her middle son Matt died aged 25 in a hit and run crash when his motorbike was hit by a delivery driver, who then fled the scene. She collected over 100,000 signatures on a petition calling for the law to be changed, which will be debated in Parliament later this year. Ray Quinn ‘proud’ of work as Hermes delivery driver after pandemic hit finances hard
Ray Quinn has revealed that he’s proud of his work as a Hermes delivery driver. The former Dancing On Ice star decided to drastically change his career amid the pandemic after showbiz work completely dried up. The 32-year-old made his name in lights as an actor on Brookside and as a singer where he came second place to Leona Lewis in The X Factor 2006 series. Ray also enjoyed success when he won Dancing on Ice in 2009 and the All-Stars version in 2014. But after the UK went into lockdown in March last year, the star endured a tough time in terms of work and finances so he decided to take on a different career path in a bid to support himself.
