Cricket: Australia bank on top four against buoyant New Zealand

· March 11, 2020 ·

SYDNEY: Australia will be banking on their top order as they seek to end their five-match winless streak in one-day internationals against a buoyant New Zealand in the three-match series beginning in Sydney on Friday. Aaron Finch's men are smarting from a 3-0 whitewash in South Africa earlier this month, which followed their 2-1 series defeat in India, and their top order look exhausted after 12 months of relentless cricket. In New Zealand, they meet a side brimming with confidence having just whitewashed India both in the ODI and test series. Opener David Warner agreed the onus was on the frontline batsmen to fuel Australia's bid to reclaim the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. "The only thing I can put it (Australia's losing streak) down to is the top four not scoring the bulk of the runs," Warner told reporters on Wednesday. "You can't do it all the time but at least one of us (has to) go on and be there at the end. "It is disappointing but at the end of the day we've got to … [Read more...] about Cricket: Australia bank on top four against buoyant New Zealand

Faced with spin test, Rahane points to lack of cricket at home

ENGLAND TOUR OF INDIA, 2021 by Kaushik Rangarajan • Last updated on Share Tweet "We haven't played so many games in India the last three years" © BCCI Between the two Test Ahmedabad Test matches, many cricketers, past and present, have delved deep into the art of batting on a raging turner. In view of the 21 of the 30 dismissals that were Bowled or LBW in the third Test , a common counsel offered was that batsmen guard against the straighter delivery and were a ball to spin past the outside edge, then so be it. "We know, when you play on spinning tracks, you have to play the line and don't worry about spin," Ajinkya Rahane agreed. However, given he was part of the first batch of players to face the pink SG ball on a spinning track, Rahane threw in an already-stated caveat . "The pink ball, it was very different to the red ball. We have hardly played with the pink ball. We need to play more to get a hang of it. India vs England: ‘Pitch for 4th Test will be similar, but red ball will make the difference,’ reckons Rahane

· March 2, 2021 ·

The third Test between the two teams, which was a Day-Night affair finished in just 140.2 overs with England losing by 10 wickets, several former England cricketers and a section of the English media criticised the BCCI for putting up a rank turner. India Vs England: Probable India XI for 4th Test in Ahmedabad starting March 4 While the Indian captain Virat Kohli conceded that the pitch wasn't too good for batting but he also blamed the batsmen for they didn't apply themselves on the turning track, hence the match was a low-scoring one. Even senior India batsman Rohit Sharma - who top-scored with 66 from either side in the match - also said there were no demons in the pitch. While interacting with the media during a virtual press conference ahead of the fourth Test, Rahane, however, said that while the pitch for the final match looks similar to the previous two games but since it will be a day game and the red ball will ensure it will not end up like the third Test. … [Read more...] about India vs England: ‘Pitch for 4th Test will be similar, but red ball will make the difference,’ reckons Rahane

England aim to end tour on high after a winter of lessons – some good, some bad

ENGLAND TOUR OF INDIA, 2021 by Rob Johnston • Published on Share Tweet In the current series against India, England have been bowled out for under 200 in five successive innings. © BCCI In the current series against India, England have been bowled out for under 200 in five successive innings. It is only the second time in their history that has happened and the first since 1888. The tourists have also registered three of their lowest four totals in India in the last two Tests. Even accounting for the low-scoring nature of this series, those statistics make for grim reading and demonstrate the extent of the challenge facing England's batsmen in the fourth Test. They really are in a hole. It is no surprise then that Joe Root spoke shortly after last week's two-day defeat about the need for his team to quickly move on from the last two matches. "We can't have any scars going into the last game," Root said at the post-match … [Read more...] about England aim to end tour on high after a winter of lessons – some good, some bad

India vs England 4th Test: Dream11 Prediction, Best Playing XI Fantasy Tips for Ahmedabad Test

Joe Root and his band would be looking to play spoilsport for the hosts after being knocked out of the race following their defeat in the third Test which was played at the same venue. India Vs England: Probable India XI for 4th Test in Ahmedabad starting March 4 The tourists would be looking to redeem themselves after the shambolic defeat in the third Test. Coach Chris Silverwood would be hoping for a better batting effort from the batsmen who failed badly against spin in the last two games despite taking a 1-0 lead in the series opener. India vs England: 'Pitch for 4th Test will be similar, but red ball will make the difference,' reckons Rahane Here are the Dream11 Fantasy Tips for the fourth Test: Team News - England The tourists erred big time in the previous Test match as they didn't pick … [Read more...] about India vs England 4th Test: Dream11 Prediction, Best Playing XI Fantasy Tips for Ahmedabad Test
