President Rodrigo Duterte kicked off on Friday night the distribution of projects to villages in Cagayan de Oro province that the government said had been freed from the communist insurgency. But along with his assurance of funding was a direct order for the police and military to “kill” and “finish off” members of the New People’s Army (NPA) — and “don’t mind human rights.’’ Tapping a P16-billion budget, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac), with Duterte as its chair, is giving P20 million each to 822 villages nationwide that are said to have been cleared of rebel presence or influence. According to National Security Adviser and NTF-Elcac vice chair Hermogenes Esperon Jr., the President will be going to the regions—starting in Northern Mindanao on Friday—“to see to it that socioeconomic developments are brought to the barangays.” ‘In the public minds’ In Northern Mindanao (Region 10) alone, Esperon said, government forces had dismantled … [Read more...] about Ushering in local projects, Duterte gives ‘kill’ order vs communist rebels

The Top 10 Super GT/Super Formula drivers of 2019
Given Motorsport.com's increasing coverage of Japan's two premier racing series, we felt it was appropriate to pay tribute to the outstanding stars of one of the most competitive national scenes anywhere in the world. But rather than compile separate lists for Super Formula and SUPER GT, which would have featured largely the same drivers given how many of them compete in both championships, we decided to go down the route of a single countdown. Read on to see who made the cut. Start action Photo by: Masahide Kamio Honourable mentions Both of the drivers that Honda recalled from Europe last year enjoyed quietly impressive campaigns back at home. Nirei Fukuzumi was able to ease his way into GT racing with a seat with the ARTA squad in GT300 and immediately proved one of the class's most consistent and capable performers, helping veteran Shinichi Takagi to a first title after some 17 years of trying. He also ended his first full year in Super Formula on a high … [Read more...] about The Top 10 Super GT/Super Formula drivers of 2019
WandaVision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And Comic Book References In “The Series Finale”
Well, it's over. WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," is streaming now on Disney+, and no matter what else you may have thought about it, the final chapter was at least full of Easter eggs and references for us to break down. If that's what you're interested in, go ahead and keep scrolling. If you haven't watched the episode yet, what are you doing here? There are going to be way too many spoilers. On the other hand, this episode left a lot of dangling threads that may or may not be picked up down the road in future MCU movies and shows. Plus, the Evan Peters casting turned out to be a red … [Read more...] about WandaVision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And Comic Book References In “The Series Finale”

How to Help Your Manager Manage You
Everybody is under more pressure today. Most managers are under even more pressure. Plus, your manager probably moved into a supervisory position because they are very good at something, but not necessarily because they are especially good at managing people. If your manager is like most, they received very little in the way of effective management training. Meanwhile, the pendulum of management thinking, books, and training has also swung in the wrong direction, toward hands-off management. Popular books have naively insisted that employees do their best work when they are free to manage themselves. According to this “false empowerment” approach, employees should “own” their work and be free to make their own decisions. Managers are merely facilitators; they should not tell employees how to do their jobs, but rather let them come up with their own methods. Make employees feel good inside and results will take care of themselves. But let’s face it. You know very well that … [Read more...] about How to Help Your Manager Manage You
