close Video Janice Dean: Cuomo and aides 'should go to jail' for nursing home death cover-up Fox News Senior Meteorologist Janice Dean rips New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for covering up coronavirus deaths. It was Andrew Cuomo's Emmy-winning performance: daily televised coronavirus briefings in which the New York governor projected competence and compassion, helping to calm a nervous nation. Now, the many Americans whose positive impressions of Cuomo were formed during the height of the pandemic are getting a close-up of a very different governor, one accused of underreporting COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, sexually harassing female staffers and bullying colleagues. CUOMO ADVISERS ALTERED REPORT ON CORONAVIRUS NURSING HOME DEATHS: WSJ To New Yorkers who have watched the Democrat for years, however, the allegations are consistent with how Cuomo maintains his tight grip on power. Microsoft just revealed the future of Teams (You may love it, airlines won’t)
It's often easy to deduce when Microsoft is excited about something. more Technically Incorrect The Boeing 737 Max is back? Not everyone is convinced McDonald's customers just got great news. It began as an engineer's bit of fun IT leaders hardly ever get it wrong (say IT leaders) A QR code on your gravestone? It's dead serious CEO Satya Nadella says, in a somewhat excited tone, that he's excited about something. So my ears involuntarily tingled when Nadella spoke last week at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research's Economic Summit . Asked what most excited him, he didn't mention India embarrassing England at cricket (which was surely the most accurate answer). Instead, he talked about his own keynote at Microsoft's Ignite event , which also took place last week. He said attendees were invited to join his sermon using any VR goggles. This, to him, was an example of creating the most natural user interface via technology. "The … [Read more...] about Microsoft just revealed the future of Teams (You may love it, airlines won’t)
Villagers protest Phuket Panason City Project
WICHIT, PHUKET: For the fifth time in three months, villagers living in Ketkaew Village near Phuket’s Panason City Project took to the streets in protest yesterday. This time they claimed the housing complex, off Chao Fa East Road, was causing flooding in their village and polluting their water supply. Using a large tent, the protesters blocked access to the 78-rai development on Soi Thep Anusorn. They demanded the developers take action to improve the project’s drainage, which they said was inadequate and causing flooding. Mr Jareonchai Wongkhosuwan, acting project manager of Panason City Project, charged the villagers with encroaching on company-owned land. “They’re trespassers, which is why we are going to chase them out soon. We’re not going to invest much to help them, but if there’s something small we can do then we will,” he said. Some of those living on the disputed land claim to have been there for 10 years, but none have land title deeds. The company has offered … [Read more...] about Villagers protest Phuket Panason City Project
Why Toronto didn’t defund police in 2020 (nor all those other times)
Councillor Josh Matlow says he knew his proposed 10 per cent cut to Toronto police would face an uphill battle because of the budget’s “untouchable” status. “It’s the single largest line item in the city’s operating budget and almost every year it goes up,” he said this past week, almost six months after his motion lost a council vote eight to 16 . He remains convinced it was the right thing to do. The move brought greater transparency to the police budget while responding to “clear demands” to reallocate police funds into much-needed community supports — to “prevent crime, rather than just trying to arrest people who commit it,” he says. This year, police services across North American came under unprecedented pressure to change following George Floyd’s death in police custody in Minneapolis. Anti-racism rallies and defunding protests have led some cities, such as Calgary, to look at shifting some police money to social service agencies — but always with pushback. Change … [Read more...] about Why Toronto didn’t defund police in 2020 (nor all those other times)
Florida beaches fill with Spring Breakers sparking fears of another deadly Covid spike – as experts say ‘stay away’
SPRING breakers heading to Florida have sparked fears of yet another Covid surge. College students were spotted in crowds on the sandy beaches, as nearly 2,000 Americans yesterday died from Covid-19. Pictures show people packed together in the sun, maskless and partying. Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber told WSVN he thinks "we're expecting a larger than typical spring break." Experts have warned against people traveling to Florida or other places as states work desperately to roll out vaccines and get as many people as possible the protection against the virus. "We understand there’s a lot of angst to get out and enjoy our beautiful weather and our beautiful beach, but we’re just asking for cooperation from our college students that do decide to come to Fort Lauderdale," Frank Sousa, the area's Police Assistant Interim Chief told WSVN. Raul Aguila, Miami Beach's city manager, said during a city council meeting that people heading to Florida "with an … [Read more...] about Florida beaches fill with Spring Breakers sparking fears of another deadly Covid spike – as experts say ‘stay away’
