Tiger Woods has no memory of crash horror and was clueless about severe injuries

· February 25, 2021 ·

Tiger Woods told police he had no memory of the car crash that left him with a shattered right leg – and was oblivious at the time to the severity of his injuries. Officers yesterday disclosed more details of the superstar golfer’s condition after revealing no charges will be brought against him. Woods, 45, was calm when he was found trapped in a loaned SUV after Tuesday’s accident in California, said Sheriff Alex Villanueva. He added: “At the hospital he was asked about it by investigators and said he had no recollection of the crash itself.” Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, first on the scene six minutes after a 911 emergency call, said: “I don’t think he was aware of how gravely he was injured at the time. Tiger Woods car crash: Details from incident that left former world No 1 with significant leg injuries

· February 24, 2021 ·

Tiger Woods suffered serious injuries in a car crash in California on Tuesday, with details continuing to emerge about the incident. The 15-time major champion was alone in an SUV and heading northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard at Blackhorse Road, a major road that cuts through the Palos Verdes Peninsula to the south of Los Angeles, when he crashed shortly after 7am local time (3pm GMT). The crash occurred on a curvy, steep stretch of road, with Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva telling reporters that Woods was travelling at a "relatively greater speed than normal" and the area "has a high frequency of accidents". It is believed that Woods lost control of his vehicle during a downhill stretch of the road, with no signs of skid marks or breaking as the car hit the centre kerb, a tree and then rolled over several times before coming to rest several hundred feet away. The car - a Genesis GV80 with a 'Genesis Invitational' logo on its side - was the only vehicle … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods car crash: Details from incident that left former world No 1 with significant leg injuries

A Place in the Sun boss left screaming for help after sinking down to chest in horror quicksand accident

· February 26, 2021 ·

A PLACE in the Sun's boss was left screaming for help after sinking down to their chest in a horror quicksand accident. The Channel 4 show has filmed in some glorious locations over the years but there have been times when the crew have faced danger. Speaking to Express.co.uk, presenter Scarlette Douglas recalled one terrifying incident on the Italian island of Sicily. Scarlette was working with a producer called Chris and preparing to film a segment on a seaweed covered beach. She said: "From afar it looked like a beach with dry seaweed." "We all go to stand in our spot and we just hear Chris saying, 'Help, help.' "I turned around and where he stood was like an area of quicksand. It was quick seaweed and he just started dropping down." The cheeky star admitted: "[Chris] was trying to hold the camera up but was literally up to his chest in seaweed. I'm cracking up and I get my phone out and I start filming." Meanwhile other crew members reached out to save the … [Read more...] about A Place in the Sun boss left screaming for help after sinking down to chest in horror quicksand accident

Lady Gaga’s dog walker shot, French bulldogs stolen in LA

· February 26, 2021 ·

Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot and two of the singer's French bulldogs were stolen in Hollywood during an armed robbery, police said. The singer is offering a $500,000 reward. The dog walker was shot once Wednesday night and is expected to survive his injuries, according to Los Angeles Police Capt. Jonathan Tippett, commanding officer of the department's elite Robbery-Homicide Division. The man was walking three of Lady Gaga 's dogs at the time, but one escaped. That dog has been recovered safely. Tippett told The Associated Press that the dogs belong to pop star Lady Gaga. It's not yet clear if the dog walker was targeted because of his celebrity client, the captain said. Police were initially called to North Sierra Bonita Avenue, a street off the famed Sunset Boulevard, around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday following several 911 calls reporting a man screaming and the sound of a gunshot, said Capt. Steven Lurie, commanding officer of the department's Hollywood Division. … [Read more...] about Lady Gaga’s dog walker shot, French bulldogs stolen in LA

Stifling defense lifts Arizona men’s basketball to win over Washington State

· February 26, 2021 ·

The Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team defeated the Washington State Cougars Thursday, Feb. 25 in going-away fashion, with a final score of 69-53. The game was closer than the final score as WSU either led or were level with the Wildcats for a majority of the first 20 minutes of play before Arizona closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 28-24 halftime lead and never looked back from there. It was a sloppy basketball game from an offensive standpoint as the two teams combined for 25 turnovers, 28% (11-39) from three and 63% (19-30) from the free-throw line. To go along with its minimal 12 turnovers, Arizona was able to match that with a team total of 15 assists, almost doubling WSU’s total. Arizona head coach Sean Miller and his team looked to have found a defensive identity in this game as the Wildcats were able to keep the Cougars at an alarming 31% (20-63) from the field.
