MELBOURNE: Staying home during the national lockdown to contain the coronavirus is like "nirvana" for Australian cricketers as they generally have to live out of a suitcase, head coach Justin Langer has said. Australian cricket is in its off-season and has been largely insulated from the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, which has suspended all of the country's major sporting competitions that run during the autumn and winter. Some Australian players are signed with teams in the Indian Premier League but the lucrative T20 tournament has been postponed at least until mid-April and may end up being scrapped like many other tournaments that have succumbed to the pandemic. “The truth is for me personally and for all the players, this is like nirvana in the fact we’re home with our families, we sleep in our own beds, we eat home cooked dinners and we can still work in one degree or another from home," Langer told reporters on Thursday. Faced with spin test, Rahane points to lack of cricket at home
ENGLAND TOUR OF INDIA, 2021 by Kaushik Rangarajan • Last updated on Share Tweet "We haven't played so many games in India the last three years" © BCCI Between the two Test Ahmedabad Test matches, many cricketers, past and present, have delved deep into the art of batting on a raging turner. In view of the 21 of the 30 dismissals that were Bowled or LBW in the third Test , a common counsel offered was that batsmen guard against the straighter delivery and were a ball to spin past the outside edge, then so be it. "We know, when you play on spinning tracks, you have to play the line and don't worry about spin," Ajinkya Rahane agreed. However, given he was part of the first batch of players to face the pink SG ball on a spinning track, Rahane threw in an already-stated caveat . "The pink ball, it was very different to the red ball. We have hardly played with the pink ball. We need to play more to get a hang of it. Pink ball … [Read more...] about Faced with spin test, Rahane points to lack of cricket at home

"During this time of absolute caution and surveillance, we would like to call upon all our members and affiliates to desist from taking part in any cricket related gatherings and other transversal events that will include the congregation of large numbers of people and/or up to 100 people," CSA acting chief executive Jacques Faul said. Cricket: Australia bank on top four against buoyant New Zealand
SYDNEY: Australia will be banking on their top order as they seek to end their five-match winless streak in one-day internationals against a buoyant New Zealand in the three-match series beginning in Sydney on Friday. Aaron Finch's men are smarting from a 3-0 whitewash in South Africa earlier this month, which followed their 2-1 series defeat in India, and their top order look exhausted after 12 months of relentless cricket. In New Zealand, they meet a side brimming with confidence having just whitewashed India both in the ODI and test series. Opener David Warner agreed the onus was on the frontline batsmen to fuel Australia's bid to reclaim the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. "The only thing I can put it (Australia's losing streak) down to is the top four not scoring the bulk of the runs," Warner told reporters on Wednesday. "You can't do it all the time but at least one of us (has to) go on and be there at the end. "It is disappointing but at the end of the day we've got to … [Read more...] about Cricket: Australia bank on top four against buoyant New Zealand
