The U.S. pursuit of a return to the Iran deal has received new strength after recent talks in Vienna appeared to indicate that working groups might bring Tehran and Washington closer to a series of agreements. The original 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed by China, France, Germany, Iran, Russia, the United States, United Kingdom and European Union. The complex deal was supposed to block Iranian pathways to a nuclear weapon in exchange for sanctions relief. It also was supposed to prevent a war with Iran. Largely absent in discussions about claims that Iran will develop a nuclear weapon if the U.S. doesn’t enter into a new Iran deal are questions about whether China, Russia and even Turkey might restrain Iran from its progress toward making a bomb. Turkey, Libya affirm commitment to E. Mediterranean maritime accord
Video Player Close ANKARA, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Turkey and Libya's new unity government were committed to a maritime demarcation agreement in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday. Libya's new unity government Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah visited Turkey's capital Ankara on Monday with a delegation of ministers for the Turkey, Libya High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting. Turkey and its businessmen are ready to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya, Erdogan said at a joint press conference with the Libyan prime minister. "Libya will host many projects in the field of development. We wish Turkish companies to carry out these projects," Dbeibeh said. Stepanakert Denies Any Involvement in Recent ‘Attack’ on Azeri Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh
The Defence Ministry of the Republic of Artsakh has denied any involvement in the recent "attack" on Azeri positions, saying that its servicemen didn't take part in any operation. "Yesterday and today, as of now, no units of the Artsakh [NKR] defence army, not a single serviceman, took part in any operation. No incidents were registered, no shot was made by the Armenian side," the NKR ministry said in a statement, released by the official info centre. The statement comes hours after the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry claimed that one of its soldiers had been killed as a result of an attack on Azeri positions in Nagorno-Karabakh. "On 27 December, ... an illegal Armenian armed group ... attacked posts of the Azerbaijani Army in the village of Agdam in the Khojavend District.
