Air Force Contractor Stole 112 Top-Secret Documents and Kept Them at Home

· February 26, 2021 ·

A former U.S. Air Force contractor with top-secret clearance has pleaded guilty to illegally taking some 2,500 pages of classified documents and keeping them in his home. The Department of Justice said Thursday that Izaak Vincent Kemp, 35, of Fairborn, Ohio, was charged in January, having violated laws prohibiting the removal and retention of classified documents. Kemp had been working as a contractor at the U.S. Air Force National Air and Space Intelligence Center based at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn. The center is responsible for analyzing intelligence on the operations and weapons of foreign air and space forces. Before this, Kemp had worked as a contractor for the Air Force Research Laboratory—also at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base—from July 2016 to May 2019. Commentary: The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s likely new fighter jet

· July 10, 2018 ·

MELBOURNE: Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen’s revelation that Singapore will soon decide which aircraft will replace the Lockheed-Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon multi-role jet fighter in the Republic of Singapore Air Force service has re-ignited interest in the programme among the wider defence community. Speaking to media in the lead-up to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Day, Dr Ng had said that the decision will be made in the next few months , with the new fighters needed by the 2030s when the F-16s will start facing obsolescence issues. He added that some of the criteria that will be used to choose the new jet will be its capability to defend Singapore’s airspace; whether it can work with other SAF air, land and sea platforms; ease of maintenance; as well as the overall cost. F-35 THE FAVOURITE The fighter jet that is being replaced, the F-16, has been the mainstay of the RSAF since 1998, when the first of what will become 60 aircraft were delivered to the RSAF. … [Read more...] about Commentary: The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s likely new fighter jet

Trump ‘offered Kim Jong Un a ride home on Air Force One’

· February 22, 2021 ·

SEOUL: Donald Trump offered North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a ride home on Air Force One after a summit in Hanoi two years ago, according to a new BBC documentary. Kim and Trump first engaged in a war of words and mutual threats, before an extraordinary diplomatic bromance that featured headline-grabbing summits and a declaration of love by the former US president. But no substantive progress was made, with the process deadlocked after the pair's meeting in Hanoi broke up over sanctions relief and what Pyongyang would be willing to give up in return. READ: 'Sometimes you have to walk’: Trump says no deal with Kim over sanctions demand According to a BBC documentary, "Trump Takes on the World", the US president "stunned even the most seasoned diplomats" by offering Kim a lift home on Air Force One after the 2019 summit in Vietnam. If Kim had accepted the offer, it would have put the North Korean leader - and probably some of his entourage - inside the US president's … [Read more...] about Trump ‘offered Kim Jong Un a ride home on Air Force One’

TAIPEI: Taiwan's air force scrambled for a second straight day on Saturday (Feb 20) after a dozen Chinese fighter aircraft and bombers carried out drills close to Taiwan-controlled islands in the disputed South China Sea, the defence ministry in Taipei said. Beijing, which claims Taiwan as Chinese territory, has carried out repeated air missions in the southwestern corner of Taiwan's air defence identification zone in recent months, mostly near the Pratas Islands. After nine Chinese air force aircraft flew near the Pratas Islands on Friday, the Taiwanese Defence Ministry said it tracked 11 aircraft on Saturday - eight fighter jets, two nuclear-capable H-6 bombers and an anti-submarine aircraft, also near the islands.
