EXCLUSIVE : Tim Story , fresh from directing the No. 1 theatrical film of the weekend , Tom & Jerry, is set to helm the pilot for ABC hip-hop drama Queens . Story is best known for directing hit feature films including 2005’s Fantastic Four and its sequel, Barbershop, Ride Along and its sequel and Shaft, but he has worked in TV before, shooting the pilot for Fox’s Standoff , Freeform’s Nicki Minaj project and Showtime’s White Famous. Queens , written by Zahir McGhee, follows four women, estranged and out-of-touch, in their 40s reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had as the Nasty Bitches – their ’90s group that made them legends in the hip-hop world. The pilot stars rapper Eve and Power alum Naturi Naughton . EXCLUSIVE: Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut ( Cruel Summer ) and Blu Hunt ( The New Mutants ) are set as series regulars opposite Billy Campbell, Angel Parker and Gerardo Celasco in National Parks , ABC ’s drama pilot co-written and executive produced by Yellowstone star Kevin Costner. The project hails from Costner’s Territory Pictures Entertainment, 20th Television and A+E Studios. Co-written by Costner, Aaron Helbing and Jon Baird and to be directed by Anthony Hemingway, National Parks follows a small group of elite national parks service agents as they solve crimes while protecting the parks — which, while being known for their sweeping, beautiful landscapes, also attract a vast array of criminal activity. ABC Television's long-running dating competition show The Bachelor said on Friday (Jun 12) that North Carolina native Matt James will become the show's first black contestant its 25-season history. "We know we have a responsibility to make sure the love stories we're seeing onscreen are representative of the world we live in, and we are proudly in service to our audience," Karey Burke, president of Walt Disney Co-owned, said in a statement. James was named after criticism from former Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay, who is black, threatened to disassociate from the franchise if it did not increase its diversity. In a blog post on Monday, Lindsay said there are "deep-rooted, 18-year systemic problems in this franchise." Few characters in all of fiction have been through as much as Dr. Meredith Grey , played by Ellen Pompeo. Over 17 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy , Meredith has seen shootings, bomb scares, plane crashes, ferryboat crashes, death, destruction, and despair, all while trying to maintain a career as an attending surgeon and occasional dog mom.
