Africa’s confirmed COVID-19 cases surpass 3.92 mln: Africa CDC

Video Player Close ADDIS ABABA, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa reached 3,924,755 as of Thursday noon, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said. The Africa CDC, the specialized healthcare agency of the 55-member African Union (AU), said the death toll related to the pandemic stood at 104,672, while some 3,501,772 patients across the continent have recovered from the disease. The Africa CDC noted that the most affected countries in terms of the number of confirmed positive cases are South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Ethiopia. South Africa has lost 50,366 lives to the disease, the most among African countries, according to the agency. Egypt and Morocco have the second and third highest fatalities, with 10,822 and 8,653 COVID-19-inflicted deaths, respectively, the Africa CDC said. PJ’s Coffee to open in Broussard March 15

A PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans will open in Broussard March 15, owners announced. The location will be in the Country View shopping center at 1137 S. Bernard Road, Suite H, and will be owned by franchisees Hannah and Grant Hodgins. It will offer a range of hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages, and customers will be able to make orders on the PJ’s mobile app from the Google Play or Apple app store. The store will open at 6 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends. “We were interested in opening our own business, and we looked at what goods and services were resonating during the pandemic,” said Hannah Hodgins, a native of the Lafayette/Broussard area who along with her husband moved back to the area last year after living in New Orleans. “People go for a walk, go to the grocery store, go get a cup of coffee.
