Motorcycling: Nine-times world champion Ubbiali dead at 90

· June 2, 2020 ·

REUTERS: Nine-times motorcycling world champion Carlo Ubbiali, who raced in the first world championship in 1949 and later dominated the 125 and 250cc categories, has died aged 90, Italian media reported on Tuesday. The third most successful Italian rider of all time, after Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi, Ubbiali won six 125cc titles and three in the bigger category. He won 39 of the 74 races he entered (26 in 125cc), mostly on an Italian MV Agusta in an era before the emergence of Japanese manufacturers. Nicknamed 'The Fox', the Bergamo-based rider was also successful in the Isle of Man TT races with five victories. He retired in 1960. "I was 10 years old when he was winning everything and I dreamed of being like him one day," said 15-times world champion Agostini, 77. "He was an example, an incentive and a source of inspiration for me. A true point of reference." SINGAPORE: The Singapore Police Force on Friday (Jul 3) said it was aware of an online post accusing an applied behavioural analysis therapist of abusing a young child with autism, and that a review is being conducted. The boy's mother had posted two videos on her Facebook page on Tuesday showing closed circuit television camera footage (CCTV) of the therapy session, alleging that her son was physically abused. Police said the child’s father lodged a report on Mar 29, 2019 at about 11.30pm. The father told police that the six-year-old had been abused by a 28-year-old female therapist earlier that day during a session at their home. Medical examination of the boy at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital was carried out on the same day and no physical injuries were found. The police said they conducted investigations, including reviewing the CCTV video that captured the entire 90-minute therapy session, and interviewed the therapist and other relevant individuals. How Moderna execs are cashing in on COVID-19 vaccine stock speculation

· July 3, 2020 ·

REUTERS: Biotech firm Moderna Inc could reap tens of billions of dollars in sales and stock appreciation if it wins the race for a COVID-19 vaccine. If it loses, the early-stage company’s value could crash. In the meantime, the firm’s chief executive is pocketing millions of dollars every month by selling shares that have tripled in price on news of Moderna’s development progress, a Reuters analysis of corporate filings shows. The sales - by CEO Stéphane Bancel, his childrens’ trust and companies he owns - amount to about US$21 million between January 1 and June 26, including US$6 million in May. The company’s chief medical officer, Tal Zaks, has cashed out the majority of his available stock and options, netting over US$35 million since January, the filings show. The lucrative liquidations highlight the unusually powerful incentives for biotech executives to highlight development milestones for drugs that often never get approved or sold, according to interviews with seven … [Read more...] about How Moderna execs are cashing in on COVID-19 vaccine stock speculation
