NEW DELHI: India's federal government said on Sunday (Jun 14) it will provide New Delhi's city authorities with 500 railway coaches that will be equipped to care for coronavirus patients, after a surge in the number of cases led to a shortage of hospital beds. The coaches will increase Delhi's capacity by 8,000 beds, home minister Amit Shah said on Twitter after a meeting with the capital's chief minister. The government will also ramp up testing in the city, especially in containment zones, conduct a door-to-door health survey of residents and provide sufficient supplies of oxygen cylinders and ventilators, he said. India is the fourth-worst affected country in the world, with cases steadily increasing. JAKARTA: Indonesia on Tuesday (May 5) reported its biggest daily rise in COVID-19 infections with 484 new cases, taking the national total to 12,071. Health ministry official Achmad Yurianto also reported eight more deaths, taking the death toll to 872. He added that 26,408 patients were still under surveillance for the coronavirus while 2,197 patients have fully recovered from the disease. Philippines’ coronavirus infections top 12,000, deaths pass 800 mark
MANILA: The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has passed the 12,000 mark, and more than 800 people have now died, the health ministry said on Friday (May 15). In a bulletin, the ministry reported 16 more coronavirus deaths, bringing the total to 806. It recorded 215 additional infections, increasing the total tally to 12,091. But 123 more patients have recovered, bringing total recoveries to 2,460.
