REUTERS: Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Sydney FC teenager Cameron Peupion after a trial at the English Premier League side, the A-League club announced on Tuesday. The central midfielder, who has been with Sydney FC's academy for the past five years, becomes the third Australian player at the English south coast club alongside Socceroos Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy. The 17-year-old featured in all four of Australia's matches at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil and was later invited to trial at Brighton. The move was made permanent this week. REUTERS: Five players from English rugby league side Hull FC tested positive for COVID-19 following their Super League match against Salford Red Devils and have been quarantined, the club and the Rugby Football League (RFL) said in a statement on Tuesday. It added that a sixth Hull FC player, who was not in the squad for Sunday's match, plus two members of the coaching staff had also tested positive. Another member of the team is being re-tested after an inconclusive result. Salford's routine weekly results had not yet been received. Both teams have cancelled training sessions planned for Wednesday and all those who tested positive are now required to quarantine for 10 days in line with national guidance. SHANGHAI - Chinese Super League champion Jiangsu FC announced Sunday it would “cease operations” with immediate effect, just three months after winning its first title. Nanjing-based Jiangsu, which is owned by retail giant Suning that also holds a majority stake in Italian league leader Inter Milan, said on social media that it hoped that a new backer could be found after the company pulled out. “Even though we are reluctant to part with the players who have won us the highest honours, and fans who have shared solidarity with the club, we have to regretfully make an announcement,” a Jiangsu FC statement said. “From today, Jiangsu Football Club ceases the operation of its teams.” Suning had reportedly tried to sell Jiangsu, which has debts estimated to be around $90 million.
