Nearing to the end of the second session, rain stopped play and early tea was taken. In the first over of the second session, Chanderpaul started with more intent, cracking Brad Evans for a couple of boundaries. However, Zimbabwe continued to bowl with discipline. It was only in the 42nd over that the West Indies collected their next boundary, with Brathwaite glancing Victor Nyuchi to the boundary boards. Brathwaite also reached his fifty with a drive off Nyuchi. A few overs later, Chanderpaul followed his captain by stroking a boundary off Brandon Mavuta to complete his second Test half-century.
