More than 7.66 million of them live in rural areas accounting for 65 per cent. More than 1.81 million people receive a monthly allowance; more than 1.4 million elderly people receive allowances for people with great contributions to the nation and 3.1 million elderly people receive pensions and social insurance benefits.
